- Brattleboro resident Ida May Fuller was the first American citizen to receive a Social Security check. She collected her first check in 1940 and lived to be 100 years old.
- In 2007, Brattleboro had to implement an ordinance making it illegal to go about your business in the nude.
- Renowned author Rudyard Kipling married a young Brattleboro woman, Carrie Balestier in 1892, and the couple settled in Brattleboro. Kipling wrote 'The Jungle Book' and other works in their Brattleboro cottage.
- Brattleboro is the headquarters of the Holstein/Friesian Cattle Association, which houses and maintains the worldwide registry for the breed.
