“making magic in the land of enchantment”

On old Route 66, overlooking the city of Albuquerque. You really don't want to pass us by. We've got sooooo much for you to enjoy. A vintage trailer exhibit to tour through, fun memorabilia and a great shop with fun and funky things you can't do without.

Originally known as the Hilltop Trading Post we are proud of our heritage on old Route 66. The trading post operated until 1969 when it became a campground. Still serving the needs of travelers it was was time to adapt its use in order to survive.

Aside from our fab vintage trailer rentals we have long pull thru rv sites, free wi fi, a great laundry, seasonal pool/ hot tub and vintage curiosities throughout the building. Our gift shop has a array of Native American crafts, southwestern foods, Route 66 souvenirs and fun and funky things you'll enjoy.

This is a basic RV park on a gravel lot with level sites and a few trees scattered throughout, but no real shade. Our row had rigs park with their living areas facing each other, we actually shared one picnic table, but spacing was not bad. We had full hook-up 50 amp, and found the park perfectly acceptable at the weekly rate offered, as well as compared to other campgrounds in the area.

Facilities include a clubhouse with a TV and a pool table, a large room filled with tables and chairs, and a couple of large barbecues just outside. There is a pool, but it was closed during our stay in late October/early November. Laundry room is adequate with older washers and dryers but they work fine.

Extra points for adorable vintage travel trailers throughout the property (photos to follow soon), a couple of Hudsons (antique cars) and other kitschy items - antique chairs, TVs and radios in the clubhouse, old timey washer and dryer in the laundry room and signs on a building in the back.

The park is immediately next door to a Camping World and a propane filling service is located on the property.

There are only two small grassy areas right by the office, and a little dirt around the edges by the fence - so pets have to walk mostly on gravel.

There is Wi-Fi access, but we found it to be too slow.

We moved to Enchanted Trails from High Desert across the street because a) this place had personality and b) the sites were far more level.

There's a nice gift shop and huge lounge area for waiting while your laundry is wrapping up, including a billiards table and bathroom.

Scattered throughout the park are cute vintage trailers and cars that give you something to look at when you walk the pup.

The sites are gravel but level, because a tractor comes through weekly and rakes them all flat. There are also some gardened areas for sitting outside. Propane is on site, and Camping World is next door, if you need their services.

The weird part is the way the sites face each other, buddy style. If you arrive with a friend, this can be great, because your front doors can face each other and you can picnic your heart out. If you have no idea who your neighbor is (and you're the introverted type like me), it can be a little awkward when there's always someone lounging in their chair outside your door.

Otherwise, though, we really liked this place and would definitely stay again when in the Albuquerque area.

Checking in put a damper on our whole experience. They do some generous things with discounts, but it can get confusing (we had Passport America and Good Sam). The lady checking us in was saying one way and I had to ask a question to clarify because it was not straight forward and didn't sound right to me. She told me it was the best way and started just giving attitude about it. I had asked the percentage is off the weekly with a confused look, nothing horrible. I said, I'm sure it's right and figured I could look later because there was someone else waiting to check in, but after running our card, she put it in all again to show us that she was right. She then realized she forgot to charge us the 50 amp surcharge on 3 days and ran our card again. And she still didn't actually configure it correctly for the best discounts, so we were overcharged. I really just didn't want to go back and fight with her later. The other people in the office were nice later in the week, but of course, on the last day I went in to check on a package and she threw more attitude my way leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth.

As far as the park goes, the Route 66 gift shop and theme is cute with the vintage decor in the laundry and lounge areas and the trailers available for rent up front. The rest of the park is a basic gravel lot where RVs are parked facing each other sharing what is typically one patio space. We had nice neighbors, but unless I'm camping with someone or there is a good amount of space between the sites, I find this awkward.

There is no dog park and somehow this gravel hurts your feet more than any other we've walked. My dogs hated it and would refuse to walk, so we ended up on the outskirts and walking them next door at Camping World a lot.

Oh, how I dislike commercial RV parks, and this is a perfect example of why. It is a gravel lot. With trees. Well, some trees. That’s it. Oh, it has “great freeway access”. Yes, it is right alongside I-40, so it is really noisy. All hours of the day.

I was only a handful of feet away from the monster Class A that was my neighbor. I could have jumped from their roof to mine. I mean I like people and all, but I also like my privacy. You don’t get it here.

Not sure why people stay at places like this. I did cause my best friend lives in the ABQ and there isn’t any public campground in the vicinity (well, there actually is one, but it is further out). And I stayed at a different commercial park before and thought I would try something new.

Yeah, so, what is good to say about this place? It has the cute vintage trailers that others have noted. And the “trading post” has a bunch of vintage furnishing. And there is laundry (yes, I know most, if not all, commercial RV parks have this, but I am stretching). And there is Wi-Fi, except it is typical of commercial RV parks. It doesn’t work.

Oh, it is also right next to Camping World, and there is a gate in the fence (open during business hours) so you have easy access.

Stayed here before the 2015 Balloon Festival in Albuquerque. I usually don't stay anywhere near cities, but this was far enough from Albuquerque that it wasn't bad. As expected, the park was completely full which is usually not so relaxing for me. Luckily I had good neighbors as our front doors met in the middle. No picnic tables at each site which may not to everyone's liking. Overall convenient to Albuquerque if you need it. The campground owners/managers seemed very nice considering the chaos before the upcoming event.

Site K10 is on the smallish side length wise but near the back of the park so didn't hear any highway noise.

The park is perfect distance to Albuquerque. We ended up having to stay here for a long time due to a hurricane more south, where we were headed. This park has some amenity perks like the laundry and pool (which was closed due to the season). The staff was also nice and helpful with places to go during our stay. They have a little shop inside but it's really just souvenirs.

The gravel was soooo dusty. They have someone on a tractor riding around leveling out the gravel for hours, nearly everyday. He must have gotten paid by the hour because this man was passing right by our site like 10 times kicking up dust. It's level dude, chill.

Camping World is right next door and happened to be our "backyard" for our stay so I'd recommend trying to request a spot further towards the back or on the side, away from Camping World. Sites are so wide we were able to park our truck right next to our rig. The sewer hook up at our site was far away from the water and electric. The site next to us had a very sketchy looking sewer hook up. It had an electric outlet right by it and was all taped off. It looked very unsafe. Also, every person with a tall rig that parked in that spot had issues with the tree planted way too close to the spot. Our electric outlet was shared with the people right next to us, which happened to get shut off twice during our stay, turning our computers off at the wrong time.

They do have WiFi here but it was such a pain. It was incredibly slow and would shut down out of nowhere. They have 3 different networks, all of which sucked. Do not rely on it.

The upside is, they have propane and a really nice, helpful guy who works there that also does RV repairs. It is so close to Albuquerque we would probably stay here again but we didn't have the best stay honestly.

ALSO! Getting here from the west, Google maps has you go down this longgggg road uphill when there is a much more convenient exit a little further east by the Love's gas station.

We limped into Albuquerque this September with our transmission going out in the truck so we stopped at the first RV park we could find. They were able to fit us in so we could get our truck worked on but basically this is nothing more than a gravel lot with RV hookups. You even get to "share" a picnic table and seating area with another RV. Ugh.
It is right off the Interstate and has a lot of road noise as well, but, beggars can be choosers and we were lucky to make it there before the truck gave up the ghost.
As there are many other RV parks in the ABQ area to choose from I would probably not choose to stay at this park again.

Not a pretty place to sit outside between rigs, but worked great for us to get out and see the area. Staff are very friendly, helpful, and always available.

All sites (except a handful) are pull-throughs with decent space. Mostly level spaces, FHUs with 50 amp. Our water spigot was stripped and they replaced it immediately. Everything worked fine, although WiFi was weak. Good water pressure. Nice gift store and pool (closed this time of year).

Cute vintage trailers and tow vehicles - rent trailers for overnight.

Camping World next door, RV dealer and Freightliner just down the street so great spot for getting work done.

The wind blew hard and tumbleweeds were stuck in and under everything. Next morning the staff had them all cleaned out.

You are right on I-40 and highway noise was constant but not bad with windows closed.

We stayed 3 nights at Enchanted Trails RV Park and felt very comfortable. Sites were gravel and level and ours had a few trees on one side, which helped it feel more private. Bathrooms were heated and kept clean. Laundry facility on-site was a nice convenience. The staff were really helpful and friendly and provided good suggestions and tips.

We also liked that there was a propane fill on site and Camping World right next door. There's a dog run area off to one-side where campers would take their dogs to run off-leash. Our dogs checked out the area and enjoyed walking and sniffing their way up the trail.

The one drawback was the spotty wi-fi. Our cell reception for T-Mobile was also a little weak.

The campground is located about 10 miles west of Old Town Albuquerque. We took an Uber into Old Town to stroll around and it cost us about $14 each way.

This place is giant gravel parking lot, with a back to back parking setup.

The parking setup is a bit weird with each rig turned opposite of the rig next to it. Overall it's not too bad, but sharing an electrical box with our neighbor meant that three times our breaker was turned off by someone coming in or leaving the spot next to us (one time at 5 am where they turned off our breaker and left). We also had our water hose disconnected once as well.

But ABQ and everything that it offers is just a few minutes down the highway.

Highway noise can be an issue, and the gravel parking lot tends to be a bit dusty (as is the desert outside the park when the wind picks up).
