We really enjoyed our stay here, campground is clean and sites are spread out so you don’t feel like your neighbors are in your space. Probably the cleanest pit toilets I have ever seen. Water is available at several locations through the park. No electricity or sewer hookups or dump station. Lake is great for fishing and paddle boarding. We stayed 4 nights and may return on our way back home. Easy drive to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse.

Nice place. Quite and clean. Lake was very nice. Would stay here again. Potable water spickets do not have hose thread ends on them so you can not hook your hose up to them and fill fresh water tank. Had to cut end of my hose off and slip it over the spicket end to fill my fresh water tank.

We were here 13-17 Sept 2018. This is a National Forest Campground. We were on Thumper Loop site 101. All the sites are ok but 101 is the best, 100 is second best. The main loop had more people and it was louder as in dogs, 4 wheeled vehicles ect. There is no power but water is available near the restrooms. We explored the Bad Lands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park and other places from this campsite. If you go to Custer check out the Burger and Bun if you can get in. Camphost was great. We enjoyed the quietness in the evenings. It filled Satuday but by Sunday 2pm it was quiet again. There were only 2 of us on this loop most of the time. The only cell signal was at the entrance of the campground from the main highway. There was no signal at the campground.

Our site is huge, far from neighbors. It is in a first come area. We had reserved 3 days for later in week but website said lots of “W” available so we came to see what we could get! The office suggested we check out the no reservation sites and they thought 59 had a great view which it did. No services. Dump station 1/2 mile down the road. Initially thought no cell service but caught a bar of LTE on Verizon and decided to power up the WeBoost and Voila!! We have Verizon and AT&T 2 bars. Must remember to send Technomadia a thank you note! Our spot is overlooking the lake. Perfect spot to explore South Dakota.

We had to go to Rapid City for business and made the mistake of going here during Sturgis Bike Week. If you're not a biker, don't do this to yourself. It is a good park with some very nice hosts. There is a lot of noise from generators that are allowed to run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. We wouldn't stay again just because of the generator hours allowed and everyone seems to need one for some unknown reason. There are some really nice sites along the lake if you can get into one. Some of the roads through this park are a little tight for big rigs. The vault toilets seemed to be taken care of and trash was always picked up after the partiers left.

Nice quiet camping, beautiful lake. It would be nice if the forest service would add a dump station. Occasional generator noise, we ran ours from time to time. Dry camping only. Water is available throughout the campground, but the water outlets are NOT threaded. We brought a full tank of water with us. The loop (Rocky loop) we stayed in had quite a bit of room between sites. Quite a few sites are not reservable and are first come, first serve. We showed up on a Thursday and had no trouble getting one of the first come, first serve sites.
We used our own showers and toilet. The vault toilets were clean, but the odor was bad.
The road back to the Rocky loop was a little bit on the narrow side, but traffic was light.
No AT&T cell service at all. Kind of a bummer, but it forced us to NOT use our phones or hotspot and enjoy nature.
The regular rate was $26 plus $2 for our dog.
The hosts and neighboring campers were very hospitable.
We will camp here again.
