Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on January 26, 2022We stayed here for 7 days basically alone. Be aware it's a slope to get in but we had no problem doing it with a 37' Class A. We paid $2.00 but it would be $4.00 without a senior pass. A couple of people with tents went down a dirt road you need high clearance for. No services other than vault toilets and garbage. Verizon cell service is spotty. You might have no service and then 2 bars 4G for a little while. Great place to put kayaks or small boats in the Amisted Lake. Lots of deer, birds and fox.

WARNING!!! Do not drive past 2nd vault toilet. NO TURNAROUND! We had to back our 40' fifth wheel 1/2 mile or so! Road is overgrown and needs some clearing
Sites up front are nice. Steep grade from road to site. Nice table and garbage can. Lots of deer and butterfly's. Great price

Spur 406 was a great base camp for kayaking. We launched our kayaks at the end of the road, which appears to be a defunct boat ramp. We also were near other boat launches so we could explore other parts of the lake within a 15-20 minute drive. Pit toilets and trash cans provided, picnic table with shade covering, self registration and no camp host. We were the only campers there when we were there in Feb. Road in good shape getting down to the campground. We were able to camp in an area well protected from the wind. No cell service at the actual site but we could sometimes get it at the beginning of the road or down by the lake. Camp here for a secluded, primitive experience.

We just drove through on a recon mission. Quite far from Del Rio and other recreation areas, but closer to Seminole canyon. Out of the six or seven sites, half can accommodate large rigs. There is no great place to park and scope out ahead of time, and no great turn around space. So big rigs should pull in with caution and good backing skills!

There are 4 spots to camp if you want a cover, table and bbq for $6 a night. This area is big rig friendly. If you want to dry camp for free go past the 4 spots and make a left turn onto a path. This leads to a few spots to park. A big rig will not make it but most travel trailers will have no problems. This is a very quiet, clean area. The lake is very low and is not visible from either camp spot.
