“Limited Access”

The visitor center burned down in May 2023. Access to Hurricane Ridge will be limited. Due to restroom capacity, the daily limit is 315 vehicles with the parking area supporting 175 vehicles at a time. Once capacity is reached for the day, the road will close to private vehicles. The park will monitor the entry system and make adjustments as needed, including to daily vehicle capacity.

Bit of road construction going on as of late May 2018, but nothing major. Didn't have time to stay and hike, although Hurricane Hill looked great. Drive was really not as windy or as narrow as I feared. Oh, and be on the lookout for wildlife. I saw a bear and it was really neat!

Beautiful views!
We missed our ferry to Victoria and had time to kill til the next one. I see it as a happy accident because we wouldn't have driven to Hurricane Ridge otherwise. It's worth it

Spectacular views of the mountains to the South and San Juan de Fuca to the north. Take the easy trails -- we saw deer and marmots.

The Visitor Center burned down in the winter of 2022-2023. The road is still open, but the only restroom facilities are a row of port-a-potties. Immaculately clean, but still ... . In addition to metering the vehicles heading up from the park entrance station, due to parking lot capacity, there is a daily limit of 350 or so vehicles, due to port-a-potty capacity. On a summer weekday, we were in a long line around 10 a.m., and soon thereafter they closed the line for the day.

Amazing views. Amazing wildflowers on the way up. Not a good road for trailers or big rigs.

Our family really enjoyed Hurricane Ridge! There certainly was plenty of snow up there. While planning our trip, we were intending to do the cool trails out to the Sunrise View Point, but the snow was too deep and you would need snow shoes during this time of year (March). After talking with the park rangers, the area is converted into a skiing area during the winter months. They did advise you could do parts of some trails, but it would be difficult. The views were breathtaking at the top. ***DO NOT*** get discouraged while driving to the top if it is foggy down below. You will drive through fog and eventually it clears up at the top. The park rangers are extremely friendly and helpful inside of the building at the top. The hot chocolate was fantastic! Lastly, this area is very cold and windy. Dress accordingly. Your hands will freeze without gloves. Enjoy!
