We went in early November, great place with nice hiking and close to the river. Hunting in season. Park has 200+ sites and there were maybe 5 taken while we were there - I can't imagine this place on a holiday weekend! Only power hookup, but water and dump available. Close to all the local towns and lots to do nearby. Well worth the visit.
Note - many sites NOT level. Bring lots of levelling blocks :D. some really awesome sites though, backing onto large private spaces... Cell service very spotty due to being basically it's own valley.

Absolutely beautiful campground. The sites are large and well thought out. The pad was not level but that wasn’t a big deal to us. Unfortunately many of the trails were very overgrown with the exception of Hilltop which was very steep but doable. Some of the shadier spots were more buggy. Tons of butterfly’s here. Overall great experience and I would totally camp here again.

when my wife and I drove in this was quite and not alot of fokes around but about 3pm on Friday that chance the park was flooded with tents... there was lots of noise and more people around than a national park campground... some sites are nice size but most are small and packed like fish in a can... it was July 4 weekend and I would bit come back in the summer but before memorial day and after labor day I would... there was lots of hiking in the river valley and on the bluffs many amazing views... many of the power boxes were hard to see from the road but it appeared in placea that there would be a gravel pad and a site then 5 or 6 sites that were for tents then another gravel pad and box... the layout of the campground felt very odd when driven out... there was firework garbage scattered about... the pit toilets I only say cleaned 1 time in 3 day there and were a mess afterall the tent campers... the noise from the RR tracks was minimal and I did not hear much... outside of the camp ground it's an amazing park lots of views to look... lots of elevation change from the river bluffs

TONS of sites, gorgeous trees here in the fall. Site 83 is an electric site on its own massive peninsula, surrounded by a creek — I quite enjoyed it. Many of the sites are reserved in advance for weekends/holidays so beware if you’re arriving at a popular time. Showers aren’t much to write home about — I was better off using the one in my RV. If you need consistent cell reception, you’ll need to grab a site at or walk to the area near the entrance of the park.
Peaceful atmosphere and right on the Mississippi!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Mississippi Palisades State Park. Our site was a very spacious pull through site, although not very level. The park is a nice mix of electric and non electric sites. The other campers were quiet and respectful. There are nice hiking paths off of the campsites. Bath house was so-so, somewhat dated but not terrible. Overall we look forward to coming back!

It is a great park with nice sites. Most sites are separated well. Great hiking trails. Cell phone access for Verizon was virtually non-existant and local TV was barely obtained on one channel.

This is a nice campground. Surprisingly it was only half full. However, I think the fact that there is zero cell service may play a factor. We have a toy hauler and brought the Harley along for a riding weekend. It was a great place to have a home base to sleep and eat but I wouldn't camp there if I was planning on spending a lot of time. I do not like not having cell service as I have elderly parents with health issues, and I especially do not like that my NOAA Weather Radio did not have service either. This campground is on the Mississippi River and is prone to bad weather. I like to know what is coming before it hits us. So, we will not camp here again.
It was a little noisy on Sunday night. A big group of people pulled in with tents. They had their radio cranked and some bass was booming. We were sitting by our fire and had a hard time hearing each other. However, i think the camp staff may have squashed the noise after a while.

The park is wonderful. The overlooks on the Palisades offer a wonderful view of the Mississippi river. The campground amenities were very good. Of course the sites are electric only so you will need to fill your fresh water tank before parking on your site. The dump stations were as clean as a dump station can be. The only place to get potable water was at the dump station, however the potable water spigot is a distance away from the actual sewer and on the other side of the dump station road if that makes sense. There are a number of restrooms spread around the campground and the showerhouse I used was clean and tidy. I wish the shower water ran longer each time I pressed the button, but hey, I can press it as often as I needed to get the job done, My wife and I enjoyed our stay there and would return if needed. However, if we return to the area we would probably try to stay at a park such as South Sabula Lake Park about 6 miles to the southwest just across the Mississippi river into Iowa. That park is right in the middle (on a peninsula) of the river and most of the sites are on the riverfront. That park also features a shower house in the same basic condition as the state park (I checked it out,,,) and also has wireless internet available. Of course, South Sabula Lake Park appeared to be full or almost full where the state park was nowhere near capacity. I wish we had known about South Sabula Lake Park before I booked our reservations into Mississippi Palisades, but hey, for $20 a night, Mississippi Palisades State Park is a good deal. Just remember to use the north entrance to the park to get to the campground--entering in the south entrance will cause you to test your tow vehicle's climb and descend capabilities under your camper load!
