A beautiful place, but we were there in August and the crowds were ridiculous. We camped at Blackwoods which was a real nice Park Service campground. But the traffic and people within the park made me want to cut our trip short.

A great place to stay when camping in the Salem area. I'd recommend the Safari field because the other sites are in a busy parking lot for the boat ramp. The bathrooms were terrible. The beach is good and the location of the park is excellent.

This campground is great if you're just passing through and want to see the Niagra Falls...otherwise avoid this place. The sites are ridiculously close together. Your neighbor's sewer pipe drain is in your picnic area for each site...not the kind of place where you can sit outside and enjoy the area....but if you have a big rig and like parking lot campgrounds, wherein yappy dogs and neighbors who don't emerge from their big rigs are the commonplace, this campground is for you.

The campsites/lean to sites are very well spaced compared to other campgrounds. The beach it very nice and was recently updated. The Slate History Trail was great, but needed a lot of maintenance in the form of grass mowing and trail blazing to be much better. The bathrooms also were not so great in the campground. Moldy and dirty showers that took 3 of your 5 minute 50ยข piece to get warm were frustrating. But don't let this deter you from visiting a great area that is situated in a great location to explore the rest of middle Vermont!

This was a very interesting place to visit on our New England road trip...my family made Maple syrup in the past at home, so the process wasn't so foreign to us...but if you're unfamiliar, it's a great stop. The people that run this joint are very friendly and happy to entertain questions. Hands down, it's the best place in Vermont to buy maple syrup and other maple products...considering they ship worldwide. The museum is great considering the content...the movie at the end of the self guided is good so don't pass it.

A must when road tripping through upper Vermont. My wife and three kids went on a Wednesday afternoon. Be advised if you're driving a big rig or pulling a camper that they don't have designated parking. We were lucky and it wasn't very busy and were able to set down our 22' travel trailer across a bunch of car parking spots. The guided tour is simply a van ride to the top of one of the quarries in the area and a tour guide gives a presentation and entertained questions...well worth it! The Rock of Ages visitor center is excellent! The staff is friendly and there's a great place for lunch in front with tables and chairs. I'd go back in a heartbeat but next time I'd plan on spending more time on a local trail or two that nears more of the quarries and land marks.

A great stop on the old two lane for lunch and photos.
