Today’s adventures (so far) included Fort Frederica, Christ Church (where Charles Wesley preached to Oglethorpe and others back in 1736), and Ticket to Ride Europe.
Close to airport. Seemed to be a newer one or newly remodeled. Typical Best Western.
Loved how surprisingly week done this National Memorial is! You can walk or drive to a set up of how the farm would be set up and talk to a person dressed in clothing they would have worn.
We drive here right after visiting his childhood home. It is only about 15 minutes away. There is a short path through the woods and down to the creek where he is recorded to have fallen in one day. There is a garden area where some crops are planted in similar fashion as they might have planted.
We were in Nashville, Tennessee and had 1 extra day, so we decided to visit this memorial. It was so interesting and then discovered not to far away was his next childhood home. It explained that the there were many deed disputes in Kentucky that led to the Lincoln’s moving from the state.
This area is very close to the Lorraine Hotel and National Civil Rights Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. was killed. We arrived early and were able to park at the parking lot for the Lorraine Motel and walk to Beale Street. It was very clean, and fun to look at all the lit up signs there. We were able to take many pictures.
This was in a sketchy area. You have to be buzzed in. Our coffee pot was missing part and the desk person was not real helpful. You have to go to 1st floor to get ice. Breakfast was very small.
The historical significance of this place and what the family endured during that time is incredible. It’s amazing that so much of it is exactly like it was. The tour was very informational.
If you know the story of Helen Keller this is an incredible place to visit. It is amazing that they have many of the original details and the well where she was taught and understood the word water. We were able to join the tour right as it started.
We stayed one night. This has many restaurants close by. It also is close to stores. The room was really nice. The air conditioner was working great. The water was not real hot. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard for Best Western. It could use an updated gym as the equipment was older or broken.
