We went here in December and the weather was perfect. This is a photo spot at the lowest spot in North America and most folks walk out a few hundred yards to the larger salt pan. Really cool spot.
The road itself through these canyons is worth the time; it us an engineering marvel. However, the colors and grandeur of the rocks really make it a world class attraction. Definitely worth the time to do at least once. We did it twice just because it was so beautiful.
We stayed at the Fiddler's rv park a few hundred yards from the resort. There are no hookups which means folks run their generators all day. They are mostly turned off by 9PM, but still annoying.
Food and supplies are as expensive as any other national park concessionaire. Gas was reasonable considering.
This location is terrific for exploring most of the valley sites.
