What a treasure. This park is beautiful. Camped in site 102, along the lake. Clean, nice people, not crowded. Wish I could stay longer.
Stayed at Malaquite Campground. Gorgeous views, camp host very helpful.Got caught in a wicked thunderstorm and left a night early due to continued bad weather. Would have loved to stay longer.
Absolutely filthy and overgrown. No toilet seat on pit toilet.
Absolutely beautiful. Did the 2.3 mile Smith Springs trail. Beautiful, moderately challenging hike that takes you to a lovely spring tucked away in the mountains. Don't miss this park.
Beautiful campground near Las Cruces NM and White Sands National Park. Love that the camp site all have covered structures over the picnic tables. Definitely keeps the sun off. We stayed in site 25. Plenty of room. No large RVs because they can't get up the road. Lots of folks camping in vans. Could have done without the DJs blasting heavy metal music in the evening and again in the morning.
I wish we could have seen more. The app was good as far as walking us through the facility, but I would have liked to have the opportunity to ask questions and to have had a live tour. It's a fascinating site with a fascinating history. I was left wondering what would happen if there was no longer human upkeep of the facility....would it go wild? Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Quiet, clean, a winner! I've stayed at this campground three times now. It's always such a pleasure to stay here. The bathrooms are clean, the people are nice, and the sites are well-spaced. Even managed to get a 23 mile bike ride through the desert today. Will definitely stay here again.
