If you're traveling through with kids, this park is a GREAT place to stop! LOTS of grassy green areas to stretch and play. Several park structures, walking trails, picnic tables, etc. Our kids enjoyed walking across the floating bridge. Tons of wildlife to see if you're looking. The state bath house offers a free 20-minute soak (8am-5pm) if you're wanting to experience mineral hot pools but don't want to pay to get into TeePee or Star Plunge. The park also hosts a local car rally in June; super fun! Also worth mentioning is the Dinosaur Museum that sits just outside the state park.

Last minute booking due to the closure of Yellowstone. The drive in was BREATHTAKING!! I highly recommend driving the highway between Dubois and Thermopolis; it's absolutely gorgeous. Pulling in, the park at first glance was definitely underwhelming...the grass/weeds/foxtails were a good 6-10in tall so it just looked unkept. Relatively smaller park but it can accommodate large rigs like ours so that's always a plus! The mineral pools are SO fun! They do allow for day-use so if you're staying here and just looking to soak, I recommend either early morning or after dinner to avoid the majority of the crowds (during peak season). They do close the pools every Wednesday to empty and clean them. There are bathrooms in the pool area for use as well as showers ($0.25/2.5 minutes). Overall, a decent place with full hookups just outside of town. Also close to Kirby, Cody, Meeteetse, Dubois, and Riverton.

WOW!! This place does not disappoint! If you're history buffs like we are and you enjoy learning about local history, this is a must-see! The Butch Cassidy exhibit was breathtaking; the sheer amount of historical items is impressive to say the least; the docents there are very knowledgeable; they even have scavenger hunts for the kids to complete while touring the museum! And be sure to head into the 7 Lazy S Cafe or the Kirby Creek Mercantile for a free kids admission couponšŸ¤—.
