A great historical stop during your trip. We visited out of season during COVID and were only able to tour the grounds but it's well worth the stop. The fort itself is stunning along with the onsite gardens. We were fortunate enough to have a volunteer stop by while were were visiting and they provided us with great information about all the summer events they hold at the site. You could see there's a lot of passion that goes into maintaining this historical landmark.
I cannot speak highly enough about this historical location. We arrived while renovation was going on and out of season. There was a small group of people working on barn construction and a caretaker approached us while we were taking photos. We were fortunate enough to receive a private tour of the grounds and buildings along with a very detailed story about all of the wonderful events they do during their normal season. Highly informative, historically impressive, and very well loved by all of those involved with it's upkeep. A very recommended stop on your trip.
The West Dummerston Covered Bridge is the longest covered bridge in Vermont. It's stunningly built. A must see on your visit. It's also in an are where you'll have a beautiful drive.
Stay at the local Bavarian Inn and traverse this bridge several times during your stay in Frankenmuth, MI by car or by foot. It's a stunning beauty and wonderful way to enter the downtown area.
While no longer a functional vehicle bridge it is located in a small park and you can enjoy the views from it and walk across. It is a smaller bridge right by a main road but the park is very nice and it overlooks a creek.
A beautiful hotel and theater. The rooms are unique and each has their own look and feel. I highly recommend the mountain side 3rd floor view. Check in/out during COVID was easy and professional. Our 3rd floor room was very large and accommodating and every staff member we met was very friendly. The downtown location is also extremely good and you'll be close to many dining options.
