Location pin is unfortunately not correct; actually at 48.452608, -115.769768, description is accurate. Fantastic geology and enjoyable short hikes; not wheelchair accessible unfortunately. Nice place to picnic and take photos.

You will not find this if going by the location above; actual location is here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ross+Creek+Cedars+Scenic+Area/@48.208745,-115.914044,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x8c9a768375abdc9c

It's a hidden gem and well-worth your time. Great for strolling, with its own microclimate. Forget about taking your trailer up here, it's a one-lane (but paved) road.

Cozy, new as of 2014, and well-appointed; great pet policy. Would've gotten 5 stars, but the first room we got was partly cleaned - made up bed, but sheets on the floor next to it, partly clean bathroom; as if housekeeping got distracted. Front desk clerk was very apologetic and embarrassed and immediately set us up with another room after verifying that it was in good shape.

So much to do, so much to see. Photographers, hit Makoshika during the magic hours and you will almost be guaranteed to be richly rewarded. The scope is vast; some of the roads through the park are dirt and generally well-maintained; several warn that they are impassable in inclement weather, and I'd believe it. The geology is so beautiful. We went in October, and many of the facilities were closed - still fantastic.

Enjoyable detour off Highway 2 - the size of the dam is something else. Stopped in the interpretive center and got the low-down - great pictures, stories, and personal memoirs of folks who worked on the dam. We hadn't called to get an appointment to tour the powerhouse - make sure you do that! The neighboring town of Fort Peck was pretty nice also - originally worker housing in the 30s during dam construction. Lots of original CCC structures in good shape. From the interpretive center, drive up to the dam and then 3 miles east to see the spillway, then back over the dam. Great stop.
