We stayed one night during the ‘Northern Fried Montana’ summer, where it was 106…the campground was fine; good WiFi, bathrooms, laundry, and pool. It borders a railroad track that was quiet by day, not as quiet at night. Overall, good for a night but we left feeling sorry for those oven-roasted folks in town.

A beautiful location that, apparently, Oregonians are keeping secret from the rest of us. Nice campsites and adequate (but not cheap) showers at the lodge. The staff were great, the views were also great, the mosquitoes were not as great. No swimming in the lake however, which had toxic algae and looked great from a distance, awful up close…definitely a keeper

Dusty, hot, and worn out. Really a decent location with mature trees but looks like it hasn’t been upgraded since the last time Mt Shasta erupted. This area, with a cute downtown and spectacular views of the mountain, frankly deserves better.

OK, it’s remote…but what a terrific site! Very nice KOA with nice roomy sites, (not in the typical KOA-packed-in style). Beautiful views of the Snake River and great paved bike path along the River. Facilities were well done and very clean, the mature trees were a benefit in the 90 degree weather. Did I mention it was remote? Other than that, it was a keeper.

Nice campground currently being upgraded, so it will be even nicer. Close to Three Forks (be sure go to the bakery along the freeway; excellent!) which is small but has what you’ll need. Close enough to Bozeman if you like loud, crowded tourist locations with faux character. Also close to the Madison Buffalo Jump, (which is not a rodeo event; it’s where Native Americans ran the bison off the cliff) on a dusty gravel road but interesting…however, no mo Buffalo..

What a great park, historic site, and perfect campground! If our car had not broken down on the freeway and stranded us for three days, we would not have had the chance to see the park. The Custer history was remarkably balanced: he wasn’t a hero and the info on the individual soldiers made it about those who died rather than a fame-obsessed egotist. The CCC-built museum and restored Army camp was a tribute to the best of their efforts. The recreation of the On-a-Slant village was outstanding. The campground was amazing, right along the Missouri River. The bathroom and showers were much better than any of the higher priced, for-profit, parking lot type ‘campgrounds’ we’ve stayed in. Just to complain about something so we don’t look like publicists; no WiFi and it was hot.
