Near to Augusta but about 25 minutes off of I-20 into the woods. Very quiet, one large loop. Small stream near some sites and a short trail through the woods to the playground - felt completely safe letting the kids roam. There’s a nice sandbox between the sites for little kids, too! Ground is sandy so prepare for pitching tent or stabilizing trailer in sand!
Friendly and helpful staff. No frills pit stop, everyone one we met there was on their way somewhere. Two small dog parks and one small playground. The staff mentioned it is under new ownership as of this February. They did not have our site available due to something being out of order so they downgraded our site and gave us a 50% discount. If you need a pit stop, this will do nicely, not anywhere I would plan to spend much time. Our downgraded site did not even have a picnic table.
Short hike on a boardwalk to beautiful falls.
Not a terribly difficult hike and pretty short for spectacular view!
Crowded, small undeveloped site - and they *both* upcharge and require extra nights for the holiday weekend... but the kids love it...
Florida state parks can be hard to book and now I know why! We grabbed this last minute and it was incredible...nice large private site, walking path to see the manatees from viewing decks along the spring. Kayaks and canoes available for rent or take a boat tour of the river. The wildlife is incredible. Staff was friendly facilities were clean. Firewood a afoot purchase. Town is closer if you need anything.
Lots of really beautiful lakeside sites. We have been twice and been able to get lakeside spots both times. Some sites allow campers to tie up a boat and take it out directly from the site. State park activities include mini golf and a beach and playground, historic cabin and various ranger-organized events. We haven't tried any just enjoyed the lake views. In the summer we have been swimming. The shore can be brackish or swampy in places, might sometimes be buggy but we haven't experienced on our trips! Good Mexican restaurant just a few miles away in the nearest town and a dollar store not far if you need to restock on anything. State park store sells wood and ice, few beverages and snacks, souvenirs and a handful of basic supplies.
Stopped last minute for the night while on the road. Site was not particularly private but the campground is very pretty. A creek runs through it, with stepping stones to walk across. Three playgrounds and a game room made it very appealing to our kids. Nice clean bath houses with laundry. Small fishing pond. Cute well stocked camp store. Friendly hosts. Very convenient to 81 but not close to the highway.
