It's one of those places where you ask yourself why you are stopping but when it's over you are glad you did. It's free and right off the interstate. Stretch you legs and see it. You might ask yourself why - but you won't regret it :-)
I'm so glad we stopped especially since they have sold the place and it's about to become a biker type store. This won't be there long - if you want to see it - get there quick. It's right next to the midpoint cafe of route 66
I want to give them more than 5 stars. Just a great job. They don't charge as much as some of the other tours and they do a great job. Derek was our guide and was very informative and patient with us and our questions and such. I know you can drive through in your car - but to hear the stories is well worth the time. Ditch your car and let a professional tell you about this wonderful experience.
You just have to go - you have to. They've done a great job of remembering the Eagles song "Take it Easy." You'll be singing it all day and even listening to it in the shop on the corner. It doesn't take long to take some pics and look through the shops - but well worth a little detour from I-40
This was a really fun last minute addition. It's actually in the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame - but it's worth the trip for both. The Wax museum is upstairs and not accessible to a wheelchair but there is a video with narration that can be watched downstairs. The couple that run this are a joy to talk to and were very helpful. Don't miss it if you have the time.
We had an awesome stop here. It is well worth the stop to get a hand made sandwich and look through the Route 66 stuff. You will not want to miss this gem of a store when you’re traveling Route 66 in Kansas.
