This hotel has been recently updated. New furniture and bathroom. It was very clean, however, it’s wet. I don’t know how else to describe it. The room despite the A/C is so moist. A smell I can only describe as musty wet dog hit us upon entering the room. The bedding was soggy and damp and you just felt gross despite the clean room. We did stay because it was late, and having been on a spontaneous roadtrip during the height of travel season, almost no one had vacancies. The staff was very friendly, they do have a hot breakfast but we did not eat there. Honestly, I would have given it a 4 star if not for the damp room and musty smell. It is not cheap either $350 for 2 nights. I would not stay here again.

We almost gave up on this as our GPS also failed us and we had to stop at the town hall for directions as another reviewer did (it was a good 14 miles further than the GPS took us). We got there later than anticipated (3:30pm) and were a little nervous about getting in and out before dusk and all info says it will take 4-8 hours depending on whether you do the full loop or shorter route. We gave it a try anyway choosing the shorter more difficult. I would definitely say it’s a moderate to strenuous hike. Incline all the way up with crossing 12 rocky creeks. Water was low when we were there so many of the creeks were dry, or low enough you could walk on top of rocks. Several areas where you had a steep climb up or down. This is one of the most fun hikes I’ve ever done. Worried about time. We did not stop other than for quick pictures. We made it there and back in just under 3 hours (including the walk to and from car). The bathtub was AMAZING, it may be more picturesque during heavier rain periods but it was still incredible.

Of note: There is a large parking lot that tells you to park there and walk to trailhead. Please know this will take you on a 1.5 mile walk down a state highway and gravel road (being a rule follower, this is where we parked). There was parking along the gravel road and also another smaller parking lot at the entrance to the trailhead. We wish we would have know this but, we just got some extra steps in right? Yes

Based on reviews stating to wear a Teva or Choako style sandle, we wore our tennis shoe type water shoes expecting to be wading through a lot of water. Not recommended, I would wear a good hiking shoe and pack your water shoes in your backpack. We survived but our feet would have preferred a sturdy shoe with support.

Coming later in the day paid off as only a handful of people were at the bathtub when we arrived.

The Pinnacle Area Nature Preserve is a beautiful area with multiple hikes of various distances and difficultly, one hike takes you to Big Cedar Falls. Absolutely beautiful! We hiked multiple trails and spend about 3 hours there. We basically had the place to ourselves. Highly recommend!

Stopped at the Arboretum at James Madison University in Harrisonburg to stretch our legs. Had some short walking trails, a pond w huge catfish/ fish, turtles and lots of ducks in addition to cool trees/flowers. We enjoyed as adults, but if you have kids they would really enjoy. There is also a nature center with things for kids. It was closed when we were there.

Either new or recently remodeled. Very clean and modern for the price of a no-tell-motel. The cheap price made us weary but I think it is just a small little town. It was nicer than other hotels we stayed in that cost triple! Staff were very friendly, nice outdoor pool, nestled on a hill with a beautiful backdrop. Hot breakfast was good! Room was spotless.

This is a sight to see. Completely worth the $9 per person entry. Nice hike with a little waterfall at the end. If you don’t want to hike to the end, the walk to the bridge is not too far. There is also a small cave you can walk into and a lost river rushing under the rocks along the trail. Perfect place to stretch your legs after a long drive and take in this awe inspiring work of nature.

Beautiful area, we were only able to do the lookout loop which is an incredible view. We were hoping to hike the Fisherman’s trail but signage was a bit confusing and it was almost dusk so we skipped the hike here. I hope to come back when we have more time. Beautiful well maintained park!

This place was gorgeous! Totally worth the drive off our route. It had been low rain so the water was just a trickle, but it didn’t matter this is absolutely stunning. I would love to go back and see it again after a heavy rain. Small parking area and very short walk to see the falls. You can get closer if you want to walk a bit further depending on water. We were able to walk right up to the pool at the base of the falls. The only negative was that there was a dead baby dear in the water.

Beautiful park and 1.5 mile hike (several trails to choose from), great place to stretch our legs. The hike we took came out in the middle of the campgrounds and had a good 1.5 mile walk through the campgrounds to get back to vehicle. Would recommend retracing your steps on the trail, but the campground mad for some good people watching and some of the camping sets ups were a sight to see!
