The site is beautiful; don't miss a walk across River Road up on the levee. The office and wait staff are friendly and helpful (just need a little polishing of their service training by management).
We started our day here because of set limited tour times; received a 200 year education in 1.5 hours...and well worth it! The slave housing along the oak alley was incredible and moving. This is a must see/do on River Road.
This is a true gem of a boutique hotel, perfectly located to maximize views of the river in a quiet neighborhood while remaining close to downtown. Staff and facilities worth the extra $.
Great concept and friendly staff; weekends must be wild when there's live music! However, midweek we're left to our own devices and a drive into town for anything-food and music. Need transportation and re supply of beer after busy weekends; also need food/music on site or ride service into town to avoid drinking & driving midweek.
Reading about the construction and repair added interest to our viewing. Don't overlook the Messianic Synagogue just across the street and down the block! What?
The drive out features a narrow country road with gentle curves and a picturesque tree canopy. This alone was worth the side trip; the ruins are iconic; research the history to add meaning as you consider the site.
If you post your hours you should keep them! "Open 11-8" but closed at 3:45????

Don't skip the video segment shown behind the gift shop-explains the chimney in the lake! If you dine at the cafe, ask for outside seating on the lakeside weather permitting.
