Moerlein brews some of the best beer to come out of Cincinnati. They are a less hip, a little older and pure about their brewing heritage, and I like that. Their space is amazing and authentic and I by that I mean they didn't do a whole lot of work to make the place feel "crafty" their building is just old and awesome and they keep it that way. Everyone who works there is nice. The last time I was there my friend was in town from SF and the head brewer chatted us up and ended up showing us around. Awesome! Christian Moerlein is a gem.

The Woodford Reserve Distillery is a very beautiful place with lots of history that happens to make very delicious bourbon. Their gift shop has some bitters and other items that are worth the trip alone. The tour is great. It's a little off the beaten path from the other distilleries but given the choice between Woodford and the others, I'd choose Woodford if you're traveling with folks who are not die-hard bourbon fans. Otherwise, I'd go to the Buffalo Trace distillery where they make Van Winkle, Blanton's, Ancient Age, and others.

I like this place very much. It is a place that maintains a come-as-you-are style which is a very special thing. They have all the good basic diner foods. I've had their burger and biscuits and gravy. I'm sure everything is good. Check it out for authentic OTR flavor.

I used to go here years ago. Their pancakes and hash were really good. It looks like they've redecorated the inside. Looks nice.

This is the best place to hang out and catch some rays on a sunny day. It's right near the panhandle too, so it's not too far into the park if you're coming from the east.

This is a great budget option if you're looking for a hotel in SF. It's a little off the beaten path, but if you're looking to save some bucks, it's a winner. I've stayed here when in town for work because my office was nearby and it was a really great deal. The staff is really nice, it has a neat feel and I think there are bikes available to borrow and ride around town. I think if you stay here you will meet others who are doing the city on a budget.

The bar at Hotel Kabuki is a great place to get a drink while waiting to get into R&G Lounge.

Alamo Square offers a pretty good view of downtown and includes the Painted Ladies. It's a popular tourist destination, with tourist busses frequently dropping off people. Having a picnic here is possible only on warmer days, as this park is VERY WINDY. In addition to the view, it also has a tennis court, and a short walk to the other side you can meet friendly dogs at the dog park.
