We found this friendly guest house on Yelp while in Arcata and I just have to say how nice of an experience it has been. They have hostel type rooms as well as private rooms and the rates are very reasonable. This was my first time staying in a communal type setting and it has been totally fine! I didn't think I could feel comfortable doing something like this, but it's actually very much like having super friendly roommates that your just meeting for the first time. Oh and the story behind the woman who lives in and owns the house is pretty awesome too. She's on the right page, supporting the greater good and sharing it!
We googled "must see trees Humboldt, CA" and made our way to "Tall Tree" which was within the Avenue of the Giants, but off the beaten path. Absolutely worth it! So giant, so special!
Our dodge grand caravan could not fit through the tree, so small bummer, but it was still worth stopping for.
As you can probably imagine... It's absolutely beautiful, humbling, so moist and quiet and something not mentioned much is how amazing all the moss and ferns are as well. It's something to behold, that's for sure!
