You do not have to be a child to go sledding on the dunes. It is super fun. Go in the evening and stay a little while after sunset.

Oh, and there is an Allsup's in Cloudcroft that is open 24 hours and sells firewood!

There are some beautiful dispersed camping areas in this forest. It was the best camping we experienced on our road trip across New Mexico.

There are A LOT of mosquitoes here, which makes it a very unpleasant camping situation. The big lake is a fun place to swim and relax during the day though. They have paddle boat and paddle board rentals. It's a popular spot for families.
