This place is pure Americana. Really neat little park with lots of places to stretch out and take a break from the road. It's free, so if it's on your way, you have no reason not to stop and take a look at some of the crazy sculptures.
Easily the best Voodoo shop I've ever been to. Awesome staff (a REAL VAMPIRE was working the apothecary), really great handmade stuff. Go visit and ask for Balfazaar.
This place is roadside weirdness at it's purest. If you find yourself traveling I-10, you'll no doubt see loads and loads of signs asking "WHAT IS 'THE THING?'", and you're bound to be curious. I won't ruin the surprise for you, but the answer harkens back to the early days of carnival sideshows.
You need a place to take a bathroom break and grab some snacks anyway, you're doing a disservice to yourself and your family if you don't just stop and take care of that here.
Your basic "entertainment center" for kids. Kind of luck a Chuck-E-Cheese but bigger. Lots of mini golf, go karts, bowling, laser tag, etc. Its... okay, but it won't blow your mind. Kids probably won't know the difference.
Since Florida is so flat, this is one of the best places in the state to take some really awesome photos. Great views, and for a couple bucks, you can see for miles. Really cool.
Visits to the museum are by appointment only, so be sure to call ahead.
It's the world's only pirate store. If that excites you, have at it.
Wonderful facility where your kids will learn a lot about butterflies and the environment... if you can get them to stop laughing at the name.
This place has certainly seen better days, but it's still as fun as ever to see "real" mermaids perform shows underwater. Kids get a kick out of it, and you're not bound to see anything else like it.
This place is classic roadside Florida at it's purest form, from the awesome giant gatorhead entrance, to the fun crap you can buy in the giftshop. If you've never seen gators in person, absolutely worth a stop... and you can feed them!
