This park was the perfect stop for an overnight. We were just passing through the area. I could see how the highway noise could bother potential tent campers, but we slept fine here. The bathrooms are single toilets with showers and the rooms got very hot. This park was very clean though!

Beautiful gem of a campground. We loved our stay. Many of the plots were up against the lake which was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of space too!

We loved walking through this park and stopping at the numbers to read what each area was about. It was at a 2 on the mosquito meeter, but the flies were bugging us more so than anything else. We saw lots of salamanders, fish, turtles and a snake. It was definitely hot, but the shade helps. I am glad we were able to stop by this park and experience it!

I wish we were here earlier. We got to the site pretty late and it rained all night. When we got up it was quiet and peaceful. There was a cute water park area too when we exited the campground. The plots are relatively close together also.

We stayed here one night camping and the sites were pretty spacious. The person at the stand was super friendly and told us to expect bears, copperheads and rattlesnakes around the park. The bathrooms near the campsites weren’t the cleanest, nor did they have lights when you needed to see after dark. The lake was a nice perk to staying here to camp. There was a bathhouse outside the lake as well for showering too.

I loved this unique find. Roadtrippers suggested this on our route and it took us approx 1 hour to walk through the large home. The history of the Folly was very interesting, but the architecture was really the focal point of this stop. Lots of opportunities for pictures and questions for the attentive staff. There was even a scavenger hunt to follow along with as you walked through each room. Tix for adults were $12. I would recommend stopping by to see this place!

We camped here for one night and it was clear skies with stars all night! The bathhouse was in close proximity to the camp sites. The pool was closed for the day we stayed unfortunately, or we would have taken a dip.

This experience was challenging yet fun. I have done an adventure park once before and this one gave it a run for it’s money. It has several different courses suited for different experience levels. I would definitely recommend bringing water and being able to handle strenuous activities for several hours at a time. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a hidden gem in Virginia!

Absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of hikes and overlooks suited for all walks of life. We stayed at Big Meadows camp ground and it was easy to navigate and book! There is also a gas station at this stop about 1/2 way through which is super convenient because this park is a good 40+ miles long! I would definitely recommend passing through or checking this park out! National Park stamps are at the gift shop in the south entrance!
