If you want to go to the island, you need yo go with a tour. The boat ride is about 30 minutes down the Hudson. The island is beautiful. Along with the large castle ruins there is a small castle near the top of the island where the Banermans lived when they visited the island. It is partially restored and the lower floor turned into a museum.

Grounds were beautiful, but our tour was packed and they kept us herded through with the group. I didn’t feel like I had enough time to look at things.

I came during the fall and this was probably the most beautiful cemetery I’ve ever visited. Make sure you have plenty of time, I gave myself an hour to wander and it wasn’t enough time to see the whole place. Wear comfortable walking shoes, much of the cemetery is walking only and the ground is hilly and uneven in parts.

The apple is, as advertised, a large apple. There is another about a block away just a bit smaller with many historical figures painted on it.

Wonderful little stop. I spent about an hour wandering the farm. The actors who play the tenant family are welcoming and willing to answer any questions they have.

What is there will depend on the season, as it is run as a working farm.

If you are in the Scranton area you need to stop here. This place is marvelous! Not only is it the only museum dedicated solely to Harry Houdini, but the tour comes with a magic show preformed by one of the top female magicians in the world, Dorthy Dietrich.

Tours are only in the afternoon. They are open during the week in Summer, but only on the weekends during the rest of the year, unless you are arranging a private large group tour.

If you are lucky enough to be in the area during October they also have a Seance Show in the evenings. You will learn the haunted origins of the home the museum is located in as they attempt to commune with its ghostly inhabitants.

The tour takes you down into the mine so you can se first hand what what it was like for the coal miners. The guide was knowledgeable and willing to answer everyone’s questions. Bring a jacket and shoes with traction, as it is both cool and damp below.

It’s a beautiful half mile walk to the pools down a tree lined fairly flat trail. Once you arrive you can climb over large boulders and rock flows to layer after layer of pools and falls.
