I've visited Belle Meade Plantation twice. The first time I took the tour, which was full of information about the family, how they made their fortune, the social customs, and the changes to the house and its land over time. The second time I just walked the grounds as a friend took the tour. I found the cost of the tour worth the information and viewing of the house. There are often events going on, as the second time I was there it was being prepped for a wedding. The wines there are very nice as well, so stop by the wine tasting.

Stopped by in February 2013. This would be a very nice place to camp. The dioramas in the museum are very detailed and my 2.5 year old loved watching the moving ones. It has a great big area to walk around and get out of the car. Also unique pianos are displayed here. The museum is a short stop, interesting information but not a lot of it.

Stopped by in February 2013. Please note that we did not actually go in. The place looked deserted (it was posted as being open) and not well maintained even though the website looked lovely, so we decided to skip it.

Stopped by here in February 2013. Seeing the buildings, the village was really nice. Go at your own pace. It was a great place to let my 2.5 year old do some supervised running around. There are artisans there, but very few of them were informative. That would be my only disappointment. Otherwise, a great little place to stop, walk around, and enjoy some history.
