Hadn't been to a planetarium in decades. This was a nice cool, inexpensive stop near the end of a long, hot road trip. Even had a few minutes extra to visit the herpetarium, hurrah!
This tour was much more than expected. Most of us have heard of the "company store" and what it meant to coal mining families of the time. But the careful design of this building to control all aspects of the business and the lives of the miners and their families was fascinating. Wish I could've spared more time for a longer tour.
I'll never get tired of stopping here. So pretty, and a welcome chance to stretch my legs on a 9-hr road trip.
This place is MASSIVE. It dominates the little town of Weston. I stopped during the off-season (March); can't wait to get a chance to go when it's open. Don't care about or believe in any ghosts, but the history must be fascinating.
