You can tell this KOA has been around a while. This one is a lot smaller and low key than other ones I have stayed at. The owners are extremely nice and helpful. There is a lot to do if you want to, if not, it's a very relaxed facility. Bathrooms are VERY clean!

There are two trails. The east trail is on the same side as the parking lot. It is a little less than a mile. Pretty slippery in places, but really very beautiful views of wildlife and the water. The west trail is about 1.25 miles. The majority of it is decently flat, but as you get to the water it is a more moderate hike. Supposedly at low tide you can see seals, I was not here at low tide. I thought this was an enjoyable moderately easy hike as a pair!

This was a 3.5 stars. When I first drove in I was a little nervous, but Emily was very friendly and walked me to the tent camping area. I was able to set up and park next to any picnic table. It is on a grassy area next to the water. I was traveling alone, so the nice bright light shining at night over the tent area was actually settling for me. It was very quite and peaceful in the evening: Now the reason I would consider giving this site a 3 is because the showers are horrendous and there weren't any grills (with that said it was not stated anywhere that they DID have grills). No ventilation (sweating just trying to move in there), bugs and spiders everywhere (I guess this is somewhat expected), shower is a chain release that you have to keep hold of. Honestly, I felt like I needed to shower after showering... I would rather have an open, outdoor shower or no shower at all than step foot in there again. If you need a quick and cheap place to pitch a tent and sleep, this will work! It was fine for one night, but I wouldn't stay more than that.

These directions take you to a small entrance within a residential neighborhood, but there is a cul-de-sac to park in. The dunes were very cool! I watched lots of kids and adults flyers by kites and there were hang gliding lessons going on. I thought flip flops were a good idea... I thought wrong. My toes were rubbed raw and the sand was scalding hot. I should have worn tennis shoes even if sand gets in them!
