We decided to visit Pine Mountain State Park because the Pinnacle at the Cumberland Gap State Park was closed due to the government shutdown! I am so glad we did! This place is great! The overlooks provided amazing views! We were on a day trip, but we stopped and checked out the lodge! We are now making plans for a weekend trip!

I found information on Mitty’s Metal Art when I was planning a day trip! I visited the website and thought it would be a great stop. Unfortunately, neither the website nor the Roadtrippers app listed the studio’s hours. When we arrived, it was closed! The moral of this review is to call ahead for hours! Trip date: 12/5/19 (early afternoon)

This is a great place! It is way off the beaten path, but definitely worth a side trip. Just when you think that you should turn your car around, you cross a bridge and it’s right there. The store has yarn, organic teas, and other interesting things! The staff is welcoming and very helpful!

I gave it a 3 out of 5 because I couldn’t find it! The Road Tripper App did not lead us to the bistro! I stopped at a gas station and asked the attendants where “Sweet as Honey Donuts” was located. Neither one of them had heard of it and the male attendant told me that the grocery store had fresh donuts. Since my phone didn’t have service, I had to give up! The bistro is still on Facebook so I will try to find it the next time I am in the area!

I am not sure that this place is still in business. The “Burning Art” signs are still on the building and by the road. There are some metal sculptures in the yard. However, the gate was padlocked and the yard didn’t look well-kept. Of course, a place where people design and create artwork from metal scraps may not have a tidy, manicured lawn. It is an old store. There were some kind of warning signs posted on the front of the building so we didn’t get close to it. If you are a photographer, it may provide you with an interesting photo or if your family history is tied to the area somehow, you may be interested in driving by it. Otherwise, it is not worth a side trip!
