Iconic? - Yes, A Must See? - Uh I don't know. Very old and dirty. Sidewalks are very small and usually very crowded so difficult to get good pictures of the stars. Plus, they have street vendors lined up on some of the sidewalks making it even more difficult. Good to say I have been there and saw it but not sure I would spend any good amount of time there.

Very unexpected route we took on our coast to coast road trip. We were surprised how the roads winded right along side the canyon walls. Just spectacular.

Did the Upper Canyon tour. Please note both are controlled and maintained by the Navajos so everything goes though them. Our tour guide (Leonard) was great and even played the Indian flute in the canyon for us. I would recommend the 9AM tour since the sun is a bit higher and probably more spectacular views. We took the cheap 6AM tour and wished we would have paid more for the longer tour (I think they have one). I say that because the tours sort of rush you through the canyon so they can get as many people possible through the canyon as possible. So, it's a huge moneymaker for the Navajos and they organize it as such. I am not saying anything bad about that, I am just saying it because it's not a relaxing, peaceful canyon tour. It's more of a look and see quickly thing. The canyon is like nothing I have ever seen (been out West a lot) and definitely worth seeing even if you have to be at the mercy of the quick tour.

One of the highlights of our 4000 mile coast to coast trip. I didn't expect this Grand Canyon-like place in Colorado. Beautiful scenery turn after turn in this National Park. Highly recommend it. Takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to get through depending on how long / how much you stop.

LOL, they have a bar and a post office! Right off the road, don't miss it!

If going into Rapid City area from the east, take the scenic route as other reviews mentioned. We arrived just before sunset and it was really amazing place to see. Takes about 30-45 minutes to get through it but worth it.

Staff inside are very nice and helpful. Free to see small museum inside with some interesting Native American exhibits. Not much to see outside if/when it is cold and snowy but texture and color of rocks look very interesting.

As a music fan, I had to make the detour to visit this place on our 4000 mile road trip. Me and my son researched the crash as we were driving there and found some facts we never knew before. What a horrible disaster this was and to stand in the exact spot where the airplane crashed and bodies thrown from the aircraft was eerie and surreal. Just park off the side of the road in front of the big glasses and walk right along the barb wire fence to the memorial. It's about a 10 minute walk or so. The memorial itself is small but looking around the barren field where it happened is the highlight. We went at dusk on a cold, snowy night which made it even more special. A must see for any music fan!

St. Louis was one stop in our 4000 mile cross country road trip. If you are going to take the ride up in arch, then probably set aside 2 hours or so. You have to buy the tickets across the street at the old courthouse or online however online has limited availability. There is now heavy security at the entrance of the arch including a TSA like screening area. Takes some time but the structure is very impressive. If going there in winter/spring after ice or snow, be careful walking on the grass as huge ice pieces might be falling from the top.

Very interesting site and worth a stop especially since it is Free. The grounds are interesting including the short trail that will take you to place the cabin location. Keep in mind, the setup with the standing cabin and farm are not the original buildings but a model of what it was supposed to look like. However, the original cabin frame that has been bronzed is interesting enough considering how small it is and how tall Lincoln was. Wonder how they fit into that small space?
