Very picturesque and a good stop off point on a drive through Snowdonia. We found the Roadtrippers location to be slightly off, but it is very well signed and easy to locate. When you park, walk to the left and not up the hill - you can't get up to the castle that way!
We were in site 121a, which was very well situated. There was a seasonal campsite across from us, but no one was there, and that side of the campground was more weighted towards campers and not seasonal in general (which is our preference). The bathrooms were all clean and the showers are coin operated. We didn't use it, but the pool looked well cared for. The people who worked there were very friendly and helpful. Sites were not located too closely together where we were - plus our site was nicely set back off the road with two sides being wooded.
Decent campground with a mix of some long term campers, tents and weekenders. Sites weren't too close together and everything was clean. Good security to enter.
The area is very beautiful, the store is fantastic, the people friendly and quirky and the covered bridge is very cool. I think that the campsites are a bit too close together and many of them are committed year over year - meaning people have built on porches, etc. The 'beach' is very small and really just an area that some sand was put down on. I don't think the lake bed was dredged there, but I could be wrong. The electric was reliable and we didn't use the water - and the wifi was great. If you are looking for an inexpensive option, it's pretty good. But it may feel a little under-invested in if you are used to something higher end.
This was a great campground. Very well run, very clean and close to the highway but not so close that you could hear the traffic. We arrived after 9pm and there weren't any street lights but don't let that deter you - great stop.
Very nice location and no hidden noise polluters nearby. Hook ups are a bit old and there are more mobile homes that seem in permanent residence than RVs on the move or campers, but the people who run it were very nice and provided a lot of helpful information about the area, including a coupon for a free bottle of wine at the vineyard when you buy one! I'd say the only disappointment was that there wasn't a fire ring at each site but rather in a central area, which meant our plan to have a cookout didn't happen. They are indeed dog friendly and our visit was a great success as they are very close to Newport's downtown and the mansions.
Incredibly beautiful spot. There was roadworks in this area when we came through and I think they were actually trying to improve your ability to pull off to the side of the road since it's become a popular spot to stop. Fantastic view - definitely stop here!
Very clean, orderly and well planned. Showers were great - new and with a private dressing area attached to the shower area.
Is there a rating better than 5? This should have it! The parking was ample but read the signs and turn back to get water before you start. It's a short walk, but the initial incline is very steep then slopes down to the viewing area. That slope seems long on the walk back. There are no railings here and you need to get quite close to get the full effect of the bend but you can also get some good viewing if you are afraid of heights.
Beautiful location with amazing views. Parking was plentiful and no challenge for us, towing a camper. There is both a general store and a shop for tshirts, etc. math rooms were new and very clean.
