Really close to Carlsbad entrance. We were there in March and not many other campers at the time. Entrance was not marked well. Exit Dillahunty Road. Campers leave fire rings in random places in the parking lot so if entering after dark you might not see them. It is a large gravel, fairly-level, parking lot. It is first come first serve. It could be loud because generators are not regulated, so if you get close to someone who doesn't care, you might listen to a generator all night. But you can't beat the price.

This little park is right off I-40. We arrived at dusk and found a place beside the tennis courts. The little park was full which is why we parked just outside the designated area. I would certainly recommend this as a place to do a quick overnight. You cannot camp, but you can certainly sleep.

I really cannot say enough great things about the parks in Arizona. This park has several different campgrounds. Each camp has its own host. The hosts cleaned each site as people moved in and out. Many of the sites around us had campers staying for single nights. The hosts would rake the grounds each time. They also cleaned the firepits, leaving any unused wood stacked neatly on the grates for the next person. We visited during March/Covid and face masks were still required when using the public bath houses. Although the shower stalls were older, they were cleaned daily. On one occasion, I ran out of hot water during my shower. I'm sure the time of day was the reason. This location is in close proximity to several different day trips. We visited Sedona, Jerome, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monument. We had T-Mobile 5G coverage without the need to use the booster. We were in Coopers Hawk Loop. There wasn't much shade in the area. If you want more shade, I'd recommend staying in Quail Loop. It's closer to the river and there are trees in the area.

This site was a great location to the south entrance of the Petrified Forest. You are almost inside the the national park. You can image that if it is free, there's not a lot invested in up keep. Getting in and out was a little rutty, but overall you can't beat it. There are small concrete slabs that make a good place for your camp chairs. We have an awning so that was helpful. You must be fully contained - meaning you have to have your own potty. There are no amenities. You cannot hear road noise. If campers are on their best behavior you will have a very peaceful night. We had mobile coverage for phones and hotspot. We were there late March, so I don't recall if we had coverage without the WeBoost. I know that coverage inside the National Park was hit and miss.

This is great little park. But needed mowed. Many of the sites with partial hookups cannot see the water. They've allowed the trees and vegitatation to block the view. They could clean out the under growth and still have the feeling of it being natrual.

The bathrooms are clean and the RV sites are level and easy to access. Site 17 has no shade from 9 am until 7:30 pm in the summer. Great swimming area. Kayaks, coanoes and rafts have a lot of room to be enjoyed.

Very narrow, but level pad. Couldn't set chairs under the awning. All sites have electric, water and sewer. Sites are very close together. Some sites seem to have longer-term patrons. Overnight bicyclist and hikers are welcome. Showers and toilets are available to paying patrons and controlled by code locks on doors. The picnic table at our site was melted by a careless camper placing a grill on it. This was our base camp for riding the trails.

This camp is on the river channel. Fishing is great. Campers next to us cleaned fish the evening we arrived and the next morning. Great 5G coverage with T-mobile. Bathrooms and showers were closed. Location is not well marked on the highway. You will need the directions sent from the reservation.

Although these paved sites are close together, they are fairly level. Grass between each unit. Tables at all sites. Pull thru sites have grills. All sites have full hookups. The facilities are new and kept very clean. There is a community firepit and grill area. We did laundry and took nice hot showers. We were there during Crooked Creek Rodeo, so we walked over and enjoyed the rodeo. The people were very friendly. The community was very hospitable.

Camping in the forest while living on the beach! All the sites are very tight. Our rig is 21' and the bikes add 2 more. When booking make sure you pay attention to the particulars for the site you book. There is no grass. Some site are more level than others. We were always protected by the trees. Most times our site cooler than others. We rarely had the warmth of the sun. The humidity inside and outside the rig was always over 75%. Our visit was the last week of June. We had great T-mobile 5g coverage on the beach and also in the more southern sites closer towards the lodge. Using the booster in our rig, we had a slow 4G, 4 bar connection. We could text, check email and catch up on the news. Generators are permitted except during quiet hours (10 pm to 7 am).

We lucked into finding an open spot in this small boondocking campground. If you want spot, I recommend getting to the campground before 4pm. There are only about 10 campsites. You enter on a dirt road but it's not too rough. There's a significant dip in the road, but even with our low clearance, we didn't have issues. The campground has covered picnic tables and vault toilets. There is very little shade. We were here in late March. The nights were very mild nights and upper 60s during the day. If you're looking for a place just to do a quick overnight, you can park outside the camp area as well. This is a great spot to base camp and do some day trips.
