This place was BEAUTIFUL!! I didn't do a lot of things that they offer here. I just stopped and walked down the pier and back. It was perfect though. I posted some pics, it wasn't the sunniest day, but it was still wonderful! Highly recommend.
This place was very cool. There is Route 66 museum and a War Museum connected to each other. I think are are actually even more museums in the town, but I was not able to visit them, THIS TIME!!
There are also beautiful murals all over the town and painted footsteps that will lead you to each one of them as well as footsteps that lead you to the other museums. I also highly recommend heading over to Dargan Park to see the sculptures over there. This was a very fun little town to stop on my road trip. Highly Recommended.
I loved visiting this park. It was a small park in the middle of a neighborhood. The sculptures and the story are very cool. There is also a park that kids can play on.
When I stopped here, I had every intention of heading to Joliet to see the Route 66 Museum there. I was pleasantly surprised though to find out that Pontiac, IL has a Route 66 museum, as well as other museums and 24 beautiful murals throughout the town. I was not able to see everything because of a time constraint, but I will definitely be going back to Pontiac, IL to check out everything else that I was not able to see. The murals are beautiful.
This place was beautiful. I wanted to make sure I saw certain things and was on a time schedule, so if that is what you want to do, make sure to print out a map before you go. They do have trail signs and maps throughout the park, but there are parts that aren't labeled the greatest. This is a great place to go though and I highly recommend it. There is a parking lot and bathroom also.
