I am not sure about the bad review about not wanting kids there, I went twice to check this place out and there was plenty of kids playing and having a great time. I found everyone to be very friendly. I'll update my review if we end up staying with more info. Only
Giving 3 stars because it is a partial review.

100% worth the entire drive, make sure you go see the Blue Mesa too! The views are breathtaking!

I have visited the meteor crater twice, both times were very enjoyable. There is a discount for active duty and their families just FYI! If you or your kids love science and geology then VISIT! My only two real issues are 1- the fencing is pretty lacking and toddlers could easily sip through, especially on the overlook deck, the fencing spaces are too wide for small children, please BE CAUTIOUS of this. 2- the subway. Both times the staff was rude and the food was not the best subway I have ever had. Next time I'll just make myself a PB & J and not go to the subway. Overall, I say it is 100% worth the stop, cost and experience if you are into this sort of thing!

I visited here for the second time today and I was completely bummed at the amount of trash! Please people, let's clean up after ourselves. The first visit was in winter and I suppose there was less travelers/tourists then. Overall though it is a great stop along I-40, easy to get to how we today was quite wet and muddy compared to last time. Only one Cadillac was really accessible today due to flooding. The entrance has a cattle guard that makes it difficult without mud to get through so my best advice is to bring a pair of shoes you don't mind getting muddy!!
