Great stop. The lady in the store was very helpful, and we managed to meet three generations of 'whale owners'! Make sure to stop and have a chat about the whale's history. A good chance to stretch your legs and have a break before hitting Tulsa. No swimming, but the whale is climbable (and fun to climb).
Looks nothing like the photo anymore, as it's no longer just a McDonald's. Still a great stop just to look over the highway, and there's a good gift shop inside for Route 66 souvenirs.
Very pretty. It was busy when we went (possibly school holidays) but they're large enough that everyone can have their own space. Not much parking on the road so it might be a bit of a walk, but very worth it. No facilities, just a waterfall! Definitely bring a swimsuit (we didn't).
Hard to find at first but we could see it from a distance. What you see is what you get!
Cute little museum packed with lots of history. I loved the aerial views of the highways. Friendly staff. Great collection of artefacts. Unique gift shop with localised produce/antiques for sale.
A small hike if you have a spare couple of hours to sightsee. The castle was fenced off so you couldn't get inside, but the views are spectacular. We didn't have an actual address so had to ask some locals how to get there. As someone has already said - take state road D!
Gorgeous bridge nestled in the greenlands of Route 66. We couldn't find a good place to pull over and take photos until we got a bit further down the road (but we may have come from the wrong angle).
Had trouble finding him at first but you can see him from pretty far away (though the area is still being developed). He lays in front of a county building with plenty of parking available. Much more impressive in person, definitely worth the stop!
We also couldn't find anywhere to pull over for the photo op, but managed to get some decent shots as we drove up and down the hill. Worth adding to the list of 'big things' as it's very well maintained and easy to see.
Good photo op, but we got a lot more out of the waterfront park down the road. Address on here isn't quite right for it and we ended up finding it by accident after giving up.
