They aren't kidding with the 'giant sub' moniker. A 'half' is more than enough for lunch. They slice the meat to order for every sandwich. One of the best subs I've had.
Food was very good. Service was good as well. On the high-end of mexican food restaurants.
Spent 5 hours sifting thru dirt, rocks, and GEMS!! This was awesome. My 6 year old daughter was with my wife and I and she had an absolute BLAST the entire time! We each paid $25 for two buckets, for a family total of 6 buckets. This is an 'unsalted' mine, which means every gem we found came from the Cowee valley. We came away with half a dozen pink sapphires, a unique pale blue sapphire, close to a dozen garnets, 4 small moonstones, 3 pieces of rutile, tons of small sallimanite, and a yellow citrine (we think). The folks that run this place are awesome. We got individual instruction on what to look for and any help in identification we could possibly need. They even sent us to a good lapidary who identified which of our stones could be cut and mounted. We are having a set of pink sapphire earings made for my daughter and a pink sapphire necklace made for my mother-in-law for her birthday. Incredible experience all around!!
Another great find...great drink selection, app selection, pizza selection, and more gelato flavors than I've ever seen in one place. Our server was also top notch. Nice quality food in a low key atmosphere. Great experience all around.
Beer choices were good (can't go wrong with a Bell's rotating selection on the menu). Tuna tartar was really good. Lamb sandwich and club sandwiches were pretty good. My daughter loved the 'Captain Healthy'...a big cup of peanut butter with tons of fruit, veggies and cheese for dipping.
Website says open 'til dusk, but the park was closed at 6:30 when we tried to go...sunset wasn't 'til after 8:30.
Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Good place to stay overnight while travelling through.
Very nice, clean rooms. Customer service was GREAT!! I happened to be wearing a KC Royals shirt when checking in. The great lady working the desk switched our room across the hall so I had a view of the stadium out my window!! Can't beat that.
Great place to stop in and eat. Our server was incredibly friendly. I ordered the Classic Sampler (gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans & rice). All three were very good. My wife ordered the catfish po' boy. Not only did it taste great, but the catfish filet that came on the sandwich was HUGE!! Their homemade chips were also very good. We happened to stop in for lunch on our way through and made a nice find. There is also a really cool fresh produce market that is right across the street.
Quite possibly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I reserved a room about two weeks before our trip. When we show up in the evening, after driving for about 10 hours that day, the desk help told me they didn't have a reservation for me. I pulled up my confirmation email and showed her. When she entered my confirmation number into the system, she informed me that I'd actually checked in the night before and check out that morning, which was weird because I just left my house that morning. Additionally, a 'double' charge was applied to my credit card because of a 'no-show'. Even though the date on my confirmation email was the day I showed up, I was informed the only way for me to get a room was to 're-open' my check-out from the day before (even though I DIDN'T stay there) which meant applying a new charge for the 'new' night of my stay. I told them thanks, but no thanks, found another hotel for the night, and called my credit card company to have payment cancelled on ALL charges from this hotel. This place was an absolute nightmare.
