North Unit! North Unit! North Unit! What a beautiful place. The southern unit is nice but, that's where the tourists go. If you want no crowds, plenty of wildlife, and stunning landscape, head to the north unit. We planned to stay a night or two and wound up staying for 5. The generator noise stops at 8pm (yay!) and you are left to simply enjoy the night sky. Be prepared to be awoken by bison traveling through the campgrounds, they are everywhere. Of all the National Parks we've visited, this one ranks in the top 5.

Definitely a good place to stop and stretch your legs. How can you pass up an enormous green giant?! The store mentioned in a previous review is now closed. Really lovely grounds with a small museum as well.

Definitely worth the stop if you are a fan of offbeat attractions like we are. The seven year old thought it was hilarious and wanted a picture with many molds. Who knew there were so many fiberglass ice cream cones in the world. ;)
