Do people come out to camp anymore to enjoy the outdoors or do they come out to sit in their RV and run their generator ALL DAY so they can live the “at home” life while camping?
So this beautiful cheap campground is ruined by the sounds of generators, lost are the sounds of the birds, groundhogs and geese surrounding the campground.

And the Park Service is to blame as well, what is the point in “limiting” generator use to daytime hours? Running them during the day is just a annoying as I am awake and outside trying to enjoy the scenery.
Some parks, very few…limit generator use to 2 hrs in the am and again in the pm, now that makes more sense.

Verizon coverage is 3G Roaming

This review is for the entire group of camps listed in this immediate area on the opposite side of 89 from Bonito Campground. This is all major overused National Forest Camping area. The ground is pounded to a complete powder, you will be eating it and cleaning it out of your rig for weeks.
There is no longer any eduquitte regarding driving past a camp or another car, it is full out and dust everyone without any concern.

Save there is really no place IMHO to boon-dock in the NF area of Flagstaff that isn’t overrun.

The good: Six minutes to the south entrance to the Grand Canyon. Tusayan is closer than that for supplies, propane, water, dump.
The bad: You can hear the sounds of Tusayan. You are also under the return flight path of all the helicopter tours. I mean right under, they fly back just over tree top, so you have to be cool with that.

Can’t think of anything but wonderful things to write here. The pads are level and the care put into the landscaping and the maintenace of the entire park is spot on.
Laundry is immaculate and the machines take credit cards!!

The plan daily events are fun the activities coordinator is a blast you just can’t go wrong here.

The campground is nice enough, lots of brown grass throughout the park that if irrigated would look fantastic. There is a base rate for your camp spot the an up-charge of $5 a night if you have an electric spot and another $5 a night if your site has electricity. Using the dump station is $10 if you are not in full hookups, fresh water is available at two fill stations, unfortunately you cannot attach your own water filter to the fill stations as they have a hose that is not threaded and you cannot remove the hose.

THE ROAD….I’ve been on LOTS of washboarded roads in the US deserts and Mexico, but never such an unrelenting brutal one as the one to the campground from the highway. I am not the fly over at high speed guy, You may not feel the bumps in your car but your RV or trailer is being trashed. The road is also extremely dusty. If not for that road I would recommend this park, great facilities, launch ramp, docks but I am already dreading the drive back out.

The bathrooms and showers are spotless! Showers are 3 min for 25 cents.

The office staff and campground Hosts can’t be beat, the very best. They helped me immensely finding a spot during a busy summer week.

Came up here to use the dump station, since Washoe Lake State Parks was closed due to the lakes rising water table. Their dump station is on at least a 30º slope, downhill! There is no chance in heck you will get more than half you tank dumped. Driving through the campground, it is pretty, but you best be under 30’ for sure and have PLENTY of leveling material, I would guess 5% of the sites approached level. Best for tent campers.

You cannot complain about the park itself, one of the best desert landscapes and RV campsites…what you can complain about is the lack of quiet. The Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club is open to the public from 7am to 5pm but classes and events can continue until 9 pm as it did for our entire 6 day stay.
So you eat breakfast to gunfire then dinner to gunfire and if you turn in early, to bed with gunfire.
This is not a sound you can mistake, it is close enough, you would have to be deaf not to hear it. I can’t believe Maricopa County approved of such a facility next to such a beautiful park.
As nice as it is I won’t be staying anymore.

On a side note, the visitor center is severely lacking in any serious. amount of books and other items for purchase, the store is 2/3 empty. Needs some serious attention for displays/information/merchandise.

The town is beautiful the views are spectacular…I guess you are supposed to always look up so you don’t notice you are staying in a gravel pit. Yes, the staff is great and when that is the first line of a review I know there are other issues. The other campground in town J+1+1 I think has grass and trees and is “in” town walkable from the campground. We stayed the Ouray RV Park & Cabins as we were meeting others here.

If you are going to landscape your ENTIRE park with grey gravel check out some desert RV parks they know how to make things appealing. For goodness sake the entire valley is littered with multi colored rocks but they must have hired a road contractor to do the place. Heck there were piles of gravel in the park just in case they wanted to do some more “landscaping’.

Not a stitch of shade other then the power poles and lines going through camp. The riverwalk that loops the river is again graded dirt with huge rocks. I’m not slouch but walking this 1.9 mile loop you must wear high top boots or you might twist an ankle.

For the price you pay, the owners should trying a little at least to provide some shade, some grass SOME visual beauty! Right now it looks like a location money grab to me.

Anyone who thinks this place is the best must like Walmart parking lots. Seriously…

Boy, what a pretty park, for as old as the park is, it is dearly taken care of. The day use area is probably the jewel of the park. If you can drive your rig/toad down to the day use you will really experience what this park has to offer.
My only complaints are...the water pressure is incredibly high, both at the campground and the showers. We have pressure regulators to mitigate the campground, but the showers will literally pressure washer you skin off, the pressure coupled with a rather high water temperature make you get out ASAP. Of course all that shower water is too much for the shower drains so the floor quickly floods and everything is wet as the cascade of water crushes the small shower curtain separating yourself from the dry clothes.
Second, the dump station is a real stinker. You do not want to be downwind at certain times of the day, try and get a spot as far away as possible. There is a green button at the dump station you are supposed to push prior to dumping, I can only guess that it might be a macerator pump...but I’m only guessing.
Cheers!
