Coming from San Francisco, the hotel is past the town of Groveland. The location wasn't walkable to town, and what? no TV? LOL On our first night out of the city we missed the TY, but by the second night, we relaxed and started to enjoy the quiet. You could drive to a few restaurants and a grocery store in town, There was a refrigerator on the porch for everyone's use. Breakfast was coffee, tea, some fruit, banana bread, and pastries. The owners seem to be the only employees, and they were friendly enough. The bed was a little too soft for me, but everything was clean and otherwise comfortable. The setting was beautiful, with incredible dusk and moonlight views of the forest.

The grounds were clean and safe. Our room was comfortable and clean, exactly what you'd want. The decor was a little quirky. I was happy to have a small refrigerator. We picked this motel because of the mineral pools. I enjoyed soaking in one, looking up at the stars was wonderful. I only wish the water was hotter. The large pool, in fact, felt cold to me. Not what my arthritic body needs. We didn't try the restaurant, which was open for limited hours due to COVID. The hot tub and spa were closed due to COVID. No mud baths for us! Next time!

You'll know you've arrived when you see the large silver statue of a bunny on the side of the road. As soon as we get out of the car, I'm surrounded by the scent of heaven. Walking closer, we see the beds of lavender. Even Dylan, our dog, goes into the landscaped beds for a closer sniff. I'm wearing a mask as we enter the visitors center, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying the relaxing scent of the lavender. We're asked to keep our masks on here, even outdoors, until we get to our seated area. Today's wine tasting focus at Hall is on their red wines. For some reason, I'm having a problem with red wines lately. I love them, but they don't love me. I mention this to Steve, our wine presenter, and he suggests some Hall White wines instead and brings me a selection. It's a good thing we ate a big lunch, or this would be way too much wine for us. We enjoy every sip. I take Dylan out for a walk through the vineyards for some photos, and to see some of the quirky sculptures scattered around the property. We leave Steve with a nice tip and head north to Calistoga.

We were in town for the SpaceX launch on April 23. We tried dinner here based on good reviews on YELP. I'm so glad I did. You'll need reservations, as this is a tiny restaurant. Parking was an issue since it's off the street. We had to walk a few blocks to get here. I walked in expecting the Aloha Spirit and found it. I already knew I was going to have a piece of key lime pie, not caring much about my entree. My group ordered a pitcher of the white sangria, delicious. I ordered the Mahi Mahi, which was really good. The key lime pie was excellent! My friends also ordered the Maui Wowie Mud Pie. That was another excellent choice. Although the place is small, we didn't feel rushed so they could "turn the tables". There were a few tables outside, since Florida is still under some COVID restrictions, but we ate indoors.

We were very happy with our stay. Our room was very small, but okay for just one night. There was a refrigerator, but a microwave would have been nice to warm up carry-out food. Our dog was happy with the grass dog area. It is a short block to the ocean and a short walk to the wine tasting houses and restaurants in the funk zone. I would have liked to stay longer!

The room was clean and warm on our snowy November night. Beds are comfortable. The refrigerator and good wifi are a plus. It's an old-style motel so we were able to park right in front of our room. The location was very good, centrally located for our visits to both Arches and Bryce National park. Michelle at the front desk was pleasant to talk to in the morning as I got some coffee and packaged snacks. When I left behind my dog's food and small food cooler, I got a call from Michelle offering to send the cooler back to us. That's awesome service because I love that little food carrier! Our Check-in was unclear. We pulled up to a dark and closed office at 6 pm on Sunday night and I panicked. Due to my phone's lack of service, I didn't get the text with check-in instructions. There was a sign on the door with instructions so it all worked out fine. There wasn't any grass to walk our dog, she had to make do with the gravel and rocks.

This is a large hotel that seems to be operating at less than half capacity, perhaps due to COVID. None of the restaurants are operating, but there is food nearby. In the room, the desk area was equipped with enough outlets to charge my devices. Having a vanity outside the bathroom is welcome for two people getting ready at the same time. I was. happy to have a luggage cart to bring my things up to the room. We were in room 310, which overlooks the heating and air conditioning units. The room shook from the vibrations of the equipment so much so that I thought I was moving! There was a hole in the ceiling above the vanity that I worried about. I didn't like paying for parking in what appeared to be an unsecured lot. I wonder why hotels don't use their best rooms, i.e., put their best foot forward when low occupancy allows for it. Perhaps we were given a "lesser" room because we had a dog? If you're also traveling with a dog, there is some grass right in front COVID, the only food or drinks available was free coffee in the lobby in the morning. The area is okay, probably not the best part of downtown, but it's not the worse. We felt safe walking to a restaurant.

My first impression was very good from Eileen the General Manager. Se does it all at this budget hotel. The room was clean and had a working refrigerator with a freezer and a microwave, that's always a plus. I was concerned that the back door is left open with no safety lock. WiFi was slow. Coffee was available in the room or lobby. Breakfast was coffee and a bag containing a bagged donut, apple small bottle of eater and a breakfast bar. Adequate considering the pandemic issues. The bedding needs upgrading. The mattress itself looked new, but the old style bedspread and velux blanket needs to go. I know those can't be washed with every check in and that's just creepy. The sheets themselves were clean and newer. We traveled with a dog. There was a dirt area behind the hotel to walk her, but no grass to speak of. All rooms required the use of stairs. No elevator. Not nearly enough outlets to charge all my gadgets.

What a great place to stay, if you're looking for a throwback to the 1970s. The hotel surrounds an indoor pool, hotter, pool table, and miniature golf course, circa the old Holiday Inn "Holidomes". Our room had an entrance from a hallway, and then a "patio" to watch the action of the courtyard. Since our worries about being in South Dakota during one of the weeks of their huge uptake in COVID cases, we stayed away from all the facilities. The staff work masks or at least bandana scarfs — but none of the guests did. The restaurant is closed. When we pulled up, we thought the hotel was too...but inside we found a nice lobby with a fireplace to welcome us. There is no elevator, so we climbed up to our second-floor room way at the back of the hotel. Maybe we were put there because it was fastest away from the pool. I really wanted to jump in, there wasn't anyone in the entire Holidome. Later in the evening, the pool was full of guests enjoying the pool. The room itself was clean. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets felt like they have been around since the 80's, very thin, pilled, and rough to the touch. There were not enough outlets for me to charge all my gadgets. I was moving furniture to find outlets. Despite Covid, they were offering hot breakfast, eggs, sausage, and the ever-present roadway waffle maker. I made a plate and carried it to my room. We picked this hotel because we're traveling with a pet, and really, there isn't much else in Mitchell. It was clean, but there must be something more updated in town? But if COVID wasn't an issue, I would have enjoyed the pool.
