The Opry sign has been removed and the building is now the “Rodeo Cinema”
Pretty little historic bridge; excellent views of the bridge from the walking path, park in the baseball fields parking lot. Short (100’) accessible walk.
Beautiful little roadside park, right in town. Perfect place for a picnic or to stretch your legs; lots of walkable or bikeable trails. There were lots of ducks and geese in the pond, looking for food.
The Cumberland Covered Bridge, also known as the Matthews Covered Bridge, is a historic covered bridge located at Jefferson Township and Matthews, Grant County, Indiana. It was originally called the New Cumberland Covered Bridge, it was built in 1877 by William Parks of Marion, Indiana. This Howe Truss bridge is 181 feet long. It is the only remaining covered bridge in Grant County. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
10/4/22; Not much left of the old barn but the foundation, the roof has completely caved in. The foundation sits in someone’s yard, so it is not open to public viewing from any vantage point other than the road. Not really worth the stop.
I don’t know if the memorial has changed, but the photo I took on 9/24/2022 depicts a well worn bronze statue in a sitting position.
Located right on Highway 5, the statue is in rough shape, but still worth a quick photo. We made a lot of jokes about the name.
This light is inaccessible. The area is completely industrial and private property.
Well it’s a rock, and it’s easy to locate, and sits in a nice monument, the rock it’s self is underwhelming. We expected it to be bigger.
Gorgeous views of the Hudson River from the foot path on the bridge! Definitely worth the walk.
