At first glance, I was wary to enter. It was early morning and I wasn't sure when I saw the building that I had it correct. The resounding positive reviews is what brought me inside and I am so glad it did.
There are no cameras allowed inside so that's why there are no pictures on reviews. It was a very informative visit into the warriors who fought in the Battle of Little Big Horn. Great collections of photographs (Fred E. Miller and David F. Barry) and one-of-a-kind artifacts.
The museum is quick off the interstate and I would highly recommend a visit if you have about 45 mins to spare in your travels.

This was a very affordable stay on my roadtrip out west - great for traveling on a budget.
I stayed there 3/20 and although the hostel was planning to temporarily close its doors due to low turnout amid covid19, they still honored my reservation and allowed me to stay the night there. That sort of treatment will keep Shady Spruce hostel on my mind whenever I find myself in the area. I am so grateful for that.
Aside from the affordability and accommodating nature of this place, it is walking distance to downtown. Very easy to trek around on foot or bike.
My only suggestion is that the pillow provided was so airy that it flattened as soon as I laid my head upon it and it was as if I didn't even have a pillow under my head. Just something to watch out for if you need head support while you sleep to bring a small pillow for yourself. The room and hostel as a whole were both clean and tidy.

I stayed here 3/19/2020. I was greeted with friendly staff whenever I passed the front desk. They were very helpful in suggesting places to visit while in town. I stayed in "Wild Bill" themed room and it was very comfortable. Amid the covid19, they were not serving breakfast. However, they offered muffins and apples individually packaged and coffee - very considerate considering many restaurants closed for this time. I am so glad I stayed here as it infused history into my roadtrip out west.
