A nice, quiet campground. Right on the water, well-maintained facilities. Not a lot of privacy between campsites.
A fun and educational tour given by knowledgable and energetic guides. The Erie Canal Discovery Center and Erie Canal Museum at Locks 34 & 35 are just a block away, so make sure to visit those too.
Beautiful park with miles of trails and great views of the falls.
A huge and beautiful National Park just a short distance from Cleveland. You could spend a week exploring it and still not see all of it, but convenient parking and picnic areas make it easy to jump around and see the highlights like Brandywine Falls, Beaver Marsh, the Covered Bridge, or scenic railroad. Great park for hikers or cyclists. I highly recommend going in the fall for the amazing foliage.
Does not disappoint. The falls are impressive and the park is a lovely place to stop. If you have time, follow the trails to see more of this beautiful National Park.
Definitely an interesting museum for the music fan, with plenty of memorabilia and information for the casual fan. Several films and videos fill you in on the history of rock as well as the museum itself. For people who already know a lot about music history of for people with more niche tastes, the museum will seem a little cursory.
Give yourself a few hours to really explore this park. Elevated walkways and boardwalks extend throughout the park, along the river and up onto the mountain. Lots of overlooks for pictures or just to take in the view and maybe even see some bald eagles.
A great historic site for fans of American history, but also a lovely excursion for a fun afternoon. Start with a brief video about Herbert Hoover's early life, then a self-guided tour through the recreated village he grew up in with his birthplace, father's blacksmith shop, and Quaker meeting house. The Presidential library gives a thorough look at Hoover's pre-political career as a businessman and humanitarian before exploring his time as Secretary of Commerce and President. Be prepared to see Hoover in a new light as you learn about how he revolutionized what was expected of those positions, and how many modern programs and ideas had their start with Hoover, including the concept of a post-Presidency career. Smaller exhibits about the era help give context to the changing times of Hoover's career. Then finish your tour with a walk through the preserved prairie and a visit to Hoover's austere final resting place.
Nearby Downtown West Branch has great places to stop for lunch or coffee and is just a block from the historic site.
A beautiful park and great place to camp in the summer. The wide-open campsites right on the lake are well-maintained and comfortable with several easily-accessible bathrooms, showers, and potable water. Warning: they lock up the showers and fully-functioning bathrooms in the fall if you plan on camping there.
Beautiful foliage and gorgeous views from the High Trestle Trail Bridge make this worth a look. There is a small parking lot very close to the bridge for people who only have an hour to spare, or a larger one and picnic area at the Johnson Family Trailhead for people who want to walk or ride a bit more. Bike rentals are within walking distance of that trailhead, as are several eateries.
