It was hard to locate an address online so we actually missed it the first day, did some more digging, then turned back around and found it. It is directly in front of a hotel and it a fun piece of Americana.
Cute stop along Route 66! All in one spot you have the two cell jail, memorial for Rev Christian Christiansen who prevented construction of Nazi bombs, and a small former diner. Three pieces of history in one stop!
Fun little stop along Rt 66! There are older buildings around downtown Atlanta that just really tie in the historical, Americana feel. Make sure to also check out the octagon library, huge tower clock, water tower with a smiley face on it and the arcade museum (it was closed when we got there but we got a pic outside).
We stopped here for 20 minutes(jam packed road trip) but it was well worth it! It is so interesting to see the little town that essentially still exists thanks to the National (or State?) Parks and volunteers. The streets still have rocks that made up the streets years ago, the sidewalks are made of wooden planks, and the architecture is beautiful! Great for even just a quick, unguided tour!
This is a cute stop but can be a longer than anticipated trip if not directly on Rt 66. We enjoyed it! There is a place to park and a little area to relax before getting back into the car.
