Only open on occasion but well worth the wait. Lovely design but in disrepair - expect to see an old abandoned mansion and grounds that need restoration badly but ooze history. Loved this place since I love ghost towns and ghost stories.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The best covered bridge around! Free! Bring a picnic lunch and sit by the creek.
Very nice stop for ghost town lovers. Down a few miles on a narrow road that was being worked on when we went. Neat to walk around - spend an hour or two and feel the history. - Free to walk around
Really nice for a day trip - spend a few hours and have a picnic.
Really great owner! Nice to see a working mill. The original mill has been surrounded by additions and it is hard to tell from just driving up. The owner will meet you and show you around. He is making a museum out of the original mill. He will tell you about other mills in the area to go see too. Get some of the products made on site as gifts.
Nice waterfront camping with trees. Rustic setting. Nice employees. Support the AL state parks - they are hurting since the state government took funding away! They contribute to the state funds but camping fees are all they have to support them and now lots of beautiful state parks in AL are being closed.
cute church - nothing else to see in the area except another cute church a few blocks away - off the beaten path - do not trust your GPS to get you back to the main road.
Not what I expected - just a very small town - nothing to make me remember the movie
Very remote - expect 20 minute drive to nearest anything. No hookups. No shower. Pit toilet. Very quiet.... BUT - AWESOME!!!! We camped right on the creek - could cool off there. Views of the surrounding area are quite nice. Stars are will never seem the same again.
What can you say - gotta stop and see the goats - they are really cute and they know it - they know how to get fed. I was hoping for lunch but alas it appears to be ice cream and gift shop. Spent about 15 minutes and moved on.
