Seems to have been replaced by a couple of twisted nails. Maybe the yardstick was out for repair?
Meh. I didn’t find it worth the stop for the sculpture, but could see it being a nice stop for those with kids.
Such a great and unexpected discovery. Alphabet Heads is located in a huge (two city block), free, open air sculpture garden in the middle of the city.
Cute stop at Iowa State U. The gnome is one exhibit near the back of the Raymond Gardens. Tix were $10 each, but that seemed to be a fair price for entrance to the gardens.
Nope. Not here. Big field, no roads, nothing that looks like the photo.
We found the roadside historical memorial, but if there are any buildings still associated with this ghost town we couldn't identify them.
Found it behind the Powell Museum! Fun kitschy Americana stop to help break up the driving.
We might have seen it from Main Street? On the the same road as The Boxes sculpture? But we couldn't find the road to get up to see it.
Definitely the busiest part of the park. The trail up to the Windows and Turret are relatively accessible to those who are able to walk up a few flights of stairs. If you can do it, bring some water and see the three sights. We found it a really great experience, although a bit crowded.
Don't expect much and definitely don't buy the pricey gas here if you can make it to Green River or Moab. But if you like breathtakingly kitchy Americana, want jerky our edible crickets, it's worth a brief visit and a few photos.
