More like a wetlands area. Lots of grasses and flowers and probably a great place for birdwatching. There are two nice structures to walk out to but the lake isn’t anywhere close with current water levels. We didn’t stay long due to massive swarms of bees but I’d love to come back in an off season for them...
Neat private residence. Lots of cool old houses in the area to look at also. Nice for a quick drive or a more leisurely stroll.
Not sure this is right as the address is a store. The house pictured is actually around the corner. The businesses are all a part of the same building with an old label identifying it as the Barnes Block, so it’s still related.
Cool house in great shape! It looks like a private residence so didn’t stop long but there looked to be a historical plaque on the front porch. The commercial building on the corner was labels as Barnes Block so I assume there is more of a story there but also didn’t stop in any of the businesses... there are several cool old houses nearby worth taking a quick drive or leisurely walk around.
Cool historical building in an old part of town. It was a dental office when we stopped by so we didn’t go in but there is lots of parking and a little bit of grounds to walk around for a closer look.
Driving around the neighborhood was kind of fun as there are lots of varied and fun styles of old homes.
Really odd and great for photos. Bring your sunglasses. There is a nice rest stop (westbound) just east of the raceway where you can walk right out onto the flats! It even has picnic tables shade and a place to wash your feet—the salt cakes on pretty good.
The eastbound rest stop doesn’t have the same access so we didn’t stop. There is a large platform you can get on for a view over the freeway—might be ok.
Really cool spot. It’s difficult access seemed to keep away the massive crowds we saw everywhere else. Great fun for some bouldering all along the shore around this spot. We stayed and watched the sun set over the lake.
