It is now Compass RV resort.
This is one of the best parks we've been to yet. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The owner is social and happy to see us. The park is clean with doggy trash cans all over the place. The sites are wide. Easy hookups. Ours was gravel but they do have nice paved patios.
My only downer I can think of is the water pressure is low even after the majority of the park cleared out after the fourth. Still do-able but just putting that out there.
We were here for the Independence Day week, still are here, and they had festivities and a band while we were here. They had just gotten the approval for putting in a pool, so by fall it should be in for the snowbirds. They said they are booked fall until February so good luck but this the best place to stay. So convenient and close to the Ancient City. The trolley stops here, so you don't have to drive and pay for parking.
Great history but a short tour. They just showed the court room and the assembly room. Still great to see. There is the congress hall inside the same compound that is also free.
Get tickets early for the Hall tour. They go quickly.
I stay here often for work and enjoy the hotel. It is on the other side of the river than the downtown, but the hotel van will run you over. The rooms are nice, clean, and comfy. There are refrigerators and a micro in each room on the third floor at least that I know of.
Kahills restaurant is beautiful and friendly staff. It is pricey for entree. I did the onion rings to cure my munchies. They were great. Not heavily breaded and tasty. The river view is also worthy of enjoying from the bar or restaurant.
Beautiful and well kept grounds. There must be hundreds of info plaques placed along the roads and in the woods. Way too many to read in a day.
The video at the visitor center tells most of the history and is a must see before heading out. They can tell you about the audio tour portion of the driving tour.
We are staying over the Independence Day weekend. The place filled up on Friday as expected. The lots are small on the outside ring. The inside ring sites are varried on the tables and fire pits. I mean that some have the rings and tables on the door side of the site if you had backed in, ours is behind our rig. When the website says site depth, that is all. There aren't many to take a 40 foot rig.
The outer ring of sites also have to walk down to their tables. The parking pads are on level with the road, but a five to fifteen foot drop into the rest of the site.
The bathrooms are well kept and the place is nice and close to great hiking trails. There are no laundry facilities on site.
It's free to ride the elevator up and see the town from above. There are pedestals with city info telling what is ahead of you.
It's something to see for five minutes.
It is closed and to be demolished for a Publix.
