We explored this location with two ten year olds and they found it very interesting. They have an audio link that you can use to explore as you hit certain locations. Unfortunately, the day that we went it was a little crowded and we were unable to stop and listen to each area because the kids felt compelled to keep moving as people passing. Overall, it was a great topic of discussion for our family in the car afterwards about dwellings in history. There is a museum available as well but it is tight and with large crowds it requires patience to get through. The parking is tight but recommend continuing forward up the hill to find spots. The trek up the hill might be challenging for some at the lower areas of the parking lot.

We were pleasantly surprised by this location! We had two junior rangers with us and they were diligently working on their packet to earn a badge. The trails were easy and marked clearly, the surround view was gorgeous, and history was fascinating. A small museum is attached to the visitor center and there is a video on loop to help with the history of the area. This was one of the cleanest parks we have ever experienced and the rangers were wonderful.

A great family campground. Something for everyone! My children rented paddle boards while my husband and I rented a paddle boat. All four of us enjoyed some time on the water. The restaurant had good food, the ice cream shop was delicious, and the staff was very nice. They have games, mini golf, a pool, "beach" area, and lots of recreational opportunities. The sites are spacious, concrete, and we had one with a chairs and a gas fire pit. We had a wonderful experience.

My family and I visited this location after checking out the Kingsley Plantation. We did the nature trail, fort, and visitors center which had a museum in it. The staff were very kind and interacted with all of us. The girls were completing the junior ranger packet and the ranger was able to provide support without giving them the answers. They completed the junior ranger packet and were able to get the badge and stamp for the Junior Ranger Passport book.

Another beautiful location in Pisgah National Forest. Can be seen from the roadside parking. There are also some stairs you can go down to get to the base of the falls. You like waterfalls without a hike… don’t miss this one.

My family loved this location! After doing research we made sure we got to sliding rock early. We visited in July and the water was extremely cold. One of the kids in our group could only go down a few times before having to exit due to how cold he was. Life guards are present, a rail leading up to the starting point, small observation area, and a bathroom with charging area available. We stayed there for an hour and the kids bring it up as a highlight to their vacation. There is a small fee and easy access from the parking area. Highly recommend.

Triple Falls is beautiful. Parking area is close to the entrance of the trail however after reading another review here… I think it is worth mentioning the trail is gravel and has some steep areas. The stairs going down the the second falls brings you to a wonderful observation area (marked with safety signs warning you not to go past). There are a lot of stairs so I advise if going up stairs is an issue-use caution. Would love to revisit in the fall during color change.

Quick stop. Good reading material and a short little nature trail. The nature trail has WR codes to talk about some of the things you might see. Great little lesson on Sugar Mills here in Florida.

I didn’t even know this place existed until I discovered the RoadTrippers app. I have lived in Central Fl. for about 24 years now & was looking for a little day trip adventure to do with my twin 5 year olds. I decided on this which is just less than an hour away for us. So we talked about how many states there are in the US, what state we live in & have visited on the drive there. Then, we arrived after a short walk from the Civic Center parking area & they thought it was cool b/c of it’s height & unique appearance. It was something different to do. We took the time to find particular places, observe difference in rocks/fossils from different place & read what it had inscribed. Great photo opportunities as well! What makes it even better is the location is right off the lake & park. So we went exploring, played at the playground, walked along the lake, checked out the “lighthouse,” & got lunch.
