Was a cool stop. Easy to get to. And he is huge! Definitely think he's worth a peek at.
I would give this place 6 stars if possible. Priced very reasonably at $6 per adult. The butterflies are abundant and beautiful. Very educational too. I don't see how one couldn't love this place.
Oh my goodness....totally agree with rgoodwin about being misleading about the size of the statue. I literally laughed when I pulled up and saw it. It's about 2.5 ft tall. Still a cute photo op
The pin dropped on the map is incorrect. It takes you to private property. It's actually located at Cagle Used Cars and Salvage about 5 miles from where the app indicates. Don't go out of your way for this. It's in a junk yard surrounded by totalled vehicles.
All it is is an oasis on an overpass for travelers. Public restrooms, mcdonalds, etc.
Dont put this on your sightseeing route or you'll be disappointed. But if you're passing by and want to grab a bite and use.the restrooms great place to do so.
Stopped to see it since it was close off of my route. It is completely fenced off so you can't even walk on the property. It was nice to see but nothing I'd recommend anyone to go out of their way for. It was probably rated a lot higher by the other tourists because the owners er was alive and happily gave his recollection of the good old days here.
It is January and cold but the beach looks beautiful
Came here on a very cold day. I didn't realize you had to walk quite a distance to get to the home so I skipped paying the admission fee and just saw the drive in to the visitor fee area. The grounds looked beautiful and if the weather were nicer I'd have definitely done the tour. They ask you to program your radio to AM 1610 when you enter. It explains the history and clearly states African American slaves. It stated the last descendant of the family left it in honor of the African American slaves who were indentured here and later freed from slavery. A lot of history here.
Giving it a 1 star only because the navigation pin took me to a road where I swore I heard banjos. There were no signs for this church and the pin was dropped on a dead road with nothing but trees on both sides. Disappointed I couldn't find it.
It was just ok. Staff was fantastic but the food was just ok and the coffee was WEAK. I don't go on out to eat on vacation and pay to have a mediocre breakfast. I unfortunately won't be returning.
