There’s the old mill which is usually open for tours in the spring summer and fall, and there’s an old schoolhouse that was moved here. The mill has exhibits on the area inside! Worth spending an hour or so here. There’s a short walking trail around the spring. Would be nice for a picnic maybe.

The cabins and lodge are new and beautiful. The lodge restaurant was good: make sure to visit the deck. There was stream access with a rocky beach. Also the lodge store sold beer!

It’s not the most impeccably clean or quiet place but they have an airport shuttle that starts at 4am and coffee in the lobby at that time. It’s about a 15 min drive to the airport from here.

If nothing else go inside really quick and look up at the dome. I did not expect it to be so colorful and ornate! The ranger gave a great overview of the courthouse’s history and the Dred Scott case, and then we got to explore. It’s nice and quiet, and even though it’s hot inside they’re working on getting central air soon.

The museum is free (and brand spanking new.) the arch costs money to go to the top. A parks pass gets you a discount but that’s all. The ride up is definitely not for anyone claustrophobic or afraid of heights. They also offer riverboat cruises, and don’t miss out on the old courthouse across the street.

This is the kind of kitsch I came to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for. Good photo op. Seemed to be undergoing some changes, moving things around, etc. but it was still fun to see all the different Christmas-scapes and scenes!

Good coffee, lots of space. My egg bake breakfast thing was just okay. They used Italian sausage instead of breakfast sausage which I thought was weird, and when they microwaved it, it didn’t get all the way warmed up.

I only came here because I needed a dinner place that had beer and those are hard to find on Sunday nights in town I guess. I wish I hadn’t come here though. Slow service, confusing set up, and one of the most hilariously disappointing side salads in my life. I literally had to hunt them down them several times for my food. And then the meatballs in my sub were honestly kinda gross. Tough and gristly.

Again, Apple maps has the location really wrong. It’s in the city park and the trail to the tower is well marked. I drove but I would have walked if I’d had time. The signs say it’s about a mile but it’s windy and hilly. One of the stairs near the bottom is loose so tread lightly. And be careful on the metal ladder!

Apple maps had the location on this really wrong. It’s at the entrance to the city park. Easy to find!
