Very natural, beautiful place to connect with nature if you get there when it’s nice & calm as we did - once around sunset on a Tuesday & the other around noon on a Wednesday- May 2022. Spring flood waters were a bit high so the river was rushing pretty fast but we managed to get in for a freezing cool dip at waters edge. My tip: bring water shoes, something that grips, ties or is laced around your feet, as getting in the water below the falls is pretty rocky. Enjoy! 🌊

We had a fantastic time visiting the Abraham Lincoln home & surrounding neighborhood, which is actually part of the national parks system, and entirely pedestrian friendly (no cars are allowed on the streets in that area for a few blocks radius). It’s really nice & beautiful this time of year, we stopped thru on our road trip & would say it was absolutely worth waiting for the tour (they run every half an hour for free out of the visitors center). We learned a lot & it was so powerful to be in the home where Lincoln wrote some of his speeches & was asked to be his party’s candidate for president. My partner’s only recommendation is that they make it more interactive & really spruce up the wow factor - we’re in Abe’s home for goodness sakes. Would be cool if they made it a bit more exciting! And, all in all, life is what you make it. We had a wonderful time.
